You can't have it both ways

Btw, fark souths - go Easts!!!
It has been untapped for 43 years.
Just like the Saints in 2010. Untapped for 31 years.
How much premiership memorabilia will they sell? How many jerseys, t-shirts, caps, photos?
The thing about when Souths are going well, rugby league is going well is a heap of sh!t though.
Aren't TV numbers down this year?

Agree Buddy, the Souffs fairytale is one of defying the odds (going 43 years in a 16 team comp without winning is a pretty amazing feat of failure). The end of this extraordinary failure is newsworthy and sells merchandise.

This is how dumb he is Miranda Kerr is a contract girlfriend if you know what that is.
Rusty is even stupid is just mad....he has built this menatlity its like the Roosters fault that souffs were so hopeless for years ...total dope.
There was a chance to bury Souffs once and for all and we didnt I bet the heirachy who had sympathy for Souffs regret it now-opportunity lost.
Rusty will ne a Packer because he cant afford to keep Souffs afloat .Reckon he can afford to keep pumping 8-15 mill every year times 9 = over a 100 mill spent .Thats why he sooked and wanted out last year ..cash flow is ****ed and didnt win a comp so now they get penalised to victory.Fark em let them carry on.
I think you're right. Russ is rich, but not THAAAT rich. I'm actually surprised he can keep paying.

A web search says his total net worth is $65,000,000. Seems like a lot, but take $15 million out a year and you're faaaaarked!!!! He gets between 5-20 million every few years for movies and would have investments...etc. However, I'd be reckoning that's a puck load of random executives y'never heard of who have significantly more disposable cash than him (and a more reliable source).

Meh at least he is a known character. It pisses me off when clubs (mainly overseas) are bought out by random Chinese/Russian crooks who've never worked an honest day in their lives and treat the world like their little playground. As much as I hate Russ and Souffs... he's VERY generous (given he's earned all of that money) and is at least somebody we know. Holmes a Court is even pretty random for me... whereas Packers just the stupid, ugly son of a billionaire who continously blows the ridiculous fortune that was given to him on idiotic/failed business ventures. I also thought he was an Easts fan? Screw him for jumping ship to Souffs... although I'm glad we have rich AND intelligent people in charge rather than rich, clueless moguls.

Russell 'phone chucker' Crowe has only put $1.5 million into Souths as reported two days ago in an article. However, PHAc has fronted up with $4.5 million and since these initial investments neither has put money into the club for a few years. Packer is on board for his own selfish commercial reasons and it has nothing to do with making a dollar or supporting Souths. He has a Barangaroo project that requires community support and he has pledged $60 million to charities and Aboriginal affairs. I reckon he will use Souths cares charity arm to make some of these donations and feels the time is right to ride the wave of support. He is an opportunist.

I have no idea but I was wondering if anyone else did have any idea that at the time when Crowe & Holmes A Court purchased Souths did that include the land & building of the old Souths Leagues?

I think it did which I believe they sold at a profit. At the end of the day the new owners sold the Souths spiritual clubhouse, they have nothing to call home.

As I vaguely recall, the Souths Football Club was the parent company of the old, now defunct Souths Leagues.

By acquiring Souths Football Club, the new co-owners were then able to use their numbers on the football club board to gain control of the Leagues Club board (unlike Easts, the boards were separate).

Once they had control of the Leagues Club board, the assets effectively became the property of the two new co-owners (to put it simply).

Then the new co-owners, now owners of the land, attempted to re-develop the premises, leasing back some space to Souths Football Club, for offices and a leased floor for the Leagues Club, rebranded as "souffs on Chalmers" etc.

Lastly, the whole place went belly-up, with the new Leagues Club becoming insolvent and closing its doors.

The final chapter, and correct me if I am wrong if anyone knows better, is that the whole former Leagues Club building was recently sold off to the Salvation Army and now houses lots of empty space and a Woolworths where the Chinese restaurant used to be.

When I say sold off, I mean the new co-owners sold it, not souffs who had no interest in the building at all by that stage.

              Clear as mud.
