Good coaching will not make Anasta faster, but it may make both he and Pearce smarter between the ears, which would benefit the side.

Speed at 5/8 is not the be all and end all. It's speeds in the backs which counts and it's not Anasta's fault if that's lacking.

Look at what Smith achieved with Gidley - he is a 200% better player than he was under Hagan. If he can achieve that with even one or two of our blokes, we'll be laughing.

As for Anasta, he tries very hard, but is just so painfully slow.

So, when you combine a 1/2 who does little more than kick, and the slowest 5/8 in the comp, the result is a halves pairing that is not particularly potent. Or threatening, if you wanted another word. Or dangerous

And when you combine that halves pairing with slow centres with no footwork, centres who are forwards, and slow wingers, what do you get?

      Tries off kicks
Pearce's role in the team means he doesn't need to be potent though he's an organiser, the reason why I never brought him up in the first place. His passing is one of the highlights of his game, hence why so many people seem to think he could cut it at dummy half.

Anasta might be slow but somehow in his last full season he managed to be 4th in tackle breaks, 2nd in linebreaks and 2nd in tries scored for 5/8's. Not bad for someone who's apparently not potent... what do you reckon?

I'm not claiming him to be the best 5/8 in the comp but saying he isn't potent is just being ignorant.

We have the least threatening, most predictable, kick-based attack in the competition

How you can absolve the halves of any responsibility for that is beyond ignorant

And who came up with and encouraged the kicked based attack - the former coaching staff I would have thought. So they should take most of the responsbility for its failure or otherwise.

You don't think our attack will change and perhaps even improve under the new coaching structure?? If so, you might well be pleasantly surprised.

Oh so that's why Anasta is considered not potent, because of a game plan...? Brilliant point.

By the way the most kick-based attack this year was the Dragons... with arguably the most potent 5/8 in the game currently. Having a kick based attack says more about the coach than it ever will the players... you're reading way too much into it.

People are always going to complain - but right now I hardly think its warranted. Last year was last year - deal with it.

Let's see how we are mid-way through the season, if we're still performing terribly, then even I will join in on the whinging, bitching, moaning, complaining and sack calling.

Wouldn't be a Roosters forum if everyone wasn't wildly wrist slitting
