what i love about MK is he truly loves our club, he hated leaving us... that being said he had some terrible games for us and just felt way too slow and not effective... if he could trim down a bit and really put 110% in each week im up for having him back... but if his just going to play like he did a few seasons back then no.

Spoke to my neighbour who is on the Sheelers board yesterday.

      Merrin is staying put.

But the drag queens are in BIG trouble financially.

I gather the club has moved on and hence why Marty is in their sights.

No no no, MK is soft and if he couldn't crack it in a Broncos outfit without recognised any props then he won't cut it here. There is no way the Broncos will pay out 259 a year to allow him to sign with another club, maybe $100-150k, so is he worth $250k per season.

Which front rower from our under 20's is ready to step up next year. If we don't sign Kennedy, looks like Merrin won't be here, and we don't need Frank Paul, also Braden Uele is no longer with us next year. Is Jokotama Dokonivalu still with us, is he ready to step up?

Thanks to the broncos we could be getting Mr Kennedy for about 150/200k a season, so at that rate he is worth it. If we cut Casty for Kennedy then it is a brilliant move! Kennedy has size, strength and power, all of which Casty has none of. I would also rather have Kennedy than FPN, so if it is a trade off there I am all for it. FPN would probably be on about 275k or more a season, so we save there on the cap as well.

Kennedy is 25 so he is just coming into the prime years for a prop. If after two years Kennedy is not playing to expectations, then we let him go and don't have to start paying the full amount of his contract.

Also I really do like the fact that he genuinely is passionate about our club.

I reckon the Broncos will pay for whatever they need to so long as it means they get Boyd. That could well mean they pay 200+ of his contract.

It's a tough one with MK. He certainly did give me the shits in his last year and a half but if he gave away less penalties and trimmed down maybe 5 kgs to get a bit more mobile in the defensive line and a quicker reload then he might be useful given he would offer a bit more experience.

For the record I think our forwards will do really well next year without him. Napa and Liu will be getting towards that 50 game mark. Liu could be anything really. If he could improve his workrate a bit more through demanding the ball more (he does actually run a heap of support without getting the ball or is quite often the first receiver link prop which takes away from his stats) he'd be one of the best bench props around. His skills are sublime for such a big unit. Did anyone else see his try for Samoa last night. The subtlety of that overs support run was actually Merrin-like. If he could get his left arm offload going in first grade he'll be an absolute menace. Meehan and Evans are excellent young props and would probably be bench props in any other NRL team.

So we're not short on talent. It's just whether they can step up and play to their potential. A far less interrupted preseason will help with that immensely.

Come on KB, surely you rate him a better player than Casty and possibly FPN? I believe he will play much better for us than what he did for the broncos. He will be happy that he is back home, it would be hard to have your heart in it for the broncos when you are passionate about the Roosters. Naturally most players play better when they are happy. Just before his unlucky injury in 2013 he was starting to play some good footy. That injury stuffed him for the rest of that year. In 2010 and early 2011 he was a colossus for us until injured. In 2012 just about everyone played shit cause they didn't have their heart in it thanks to Smiffy and Son.

I recall an edition of FBi radio's 'Fire Up' where Marty was special guest - the guys quite obviously no mug, he came across well spoken, professional and RWB thru and thru. I was surprised when Trent overlooked him for the leadership group which suggests that there may be a different view of his credentials from within the club.

For the record I'd love to have him back and hopefully this time round he can realise his potential as one of the games most formidable front row forwards - albeit that Benny quite obviously doesn't believe so.
