  • The Lurker - Trent Merrin

Reporting that Merrin will stay with Dragons for 2015 then to be offered big contract by Roosters for 2016 onwards which he will take.

If this is true then you can kiss Taumalolo goodbye. Unless of course we lose a few good ones.

Merrin's good but i would prefer Taumalolo myself. More dynamic in attack and we won't lose him in origin.

i say Merrin until i see Taumalolo play well in 2015, one good season isnt enough to choose him over Merrin...Merrin may not be as devastating but his been consistently good for awhile.

Merrin is a terrific player. Not as dynamic as Taumololo (completely different players) but Merrin has a great offload and great footwork at the line. Be surprised if Saints didnt try everything to keep him. By far their best forward.

Anyone know how old he is?

          He's 25.
If he joins us in 2016 we should get a very good player entering his prime.....

Whilst Merrin is not the biggest unit he is quick for a prop and right up there with the offloads his best feature, nothing like second phase play.

We can go either way with St George recruits, David Barnhill or Craig Fitzgibbon.

I liked Barnhill with us. He played for the Blues when at Easts.

I fully agree with you, Merrin is good but Taumalolo is better! Taumalolo is younger, bigger and more powerful. That is a significant bonus that Taumalolo doesn't have to play origin.

The year 2013 marks the beginning of the Roosters next 'decade of excellence', and it will prove to be more successful than the last!

                            Here's looking at you, kid.
