I'd be most pleased if Turk is right and the deal is done already, just pending the announcement. This would mean we picked Taumalolo up before his asking price peaks during the 4 Nations.

Turk also claims that he will play for us next season. If true, there must be a deal in the making to facilitate this. Perhaps we will get some insights when the players return on 12th November and a player or two is not present.

Anyone interested in going to training and reporting. Wonder if FPN will be there???

Turk, in you I trust (on probation). Please don't prove my trust wrong.

I don't think Merrin is playing in the four nations mate, if that's what you mean? He posted a picture of himself in a dragons shirt on Instagram the other day about going back to training. This also makes me think if we did happen to sign him, we wouldn't get him till 2016 as he sounded pretty pumped about playing there next season

It will be interesting to see which player (if any) that Turk has predicted, actually signs. Merrin or Taumalolo (JT)?

Fitzy is by far the best we have ever signed from the Dragqueens,if Merrin is half as good as him he'll be worth it.

Sorry for confusion RWBFL. I was referring to Taumalolo (JT). Will edit the post

Taumalolo has everything in his locker that merrin has but even better. He really stepped up for the cowboys this year and he is only going to get better with more experience. Add the fact he is 4 years younger than merrin. Taumalolo would be on half the money SBW was on and I think he could have the same impact SBW had for us in 2013.

That was a Fitzy move. I remember Barnhill playing front row when the glass figurines, Terry Hermansson and Jason Lowrie, were out.

Scott Gourley always struck me as one of those players who never quite lived up to potential. Good but not great. I think he got Fensom'd in the representative stakes.

Now that i think of it, I don't think we are in any sort of panic to sign either Merrin or Tuamalolo.

I can live with a backrow of

11.Cordner (rep player, best edge running forward in the comp)
                  12. Aubs
                  13.Guerra(rep player)

                  next season

and there are a few like Meehan and Rhyse Martin in the squad so there is no urgency to overpay for players.Who knows, FPN might decide to pull his finger out of his arse and start being the wrecking ball again.

Taumololo is a passenger on the field. I've never seen a man so big hide out in the centres. Cows go to play is lolo running blocks for ex rooster linett when it should be other way found. With jwh nappa and Evans coming through I think merrin is what we will need. 80 minutes of consistency to pair up with the fire and brimstone.

Taumalolo isn't even close to being in the same class as SBW, Sonny had it all; the ability to take strong hitups, the ability to run great hole lines and the frekish bonus of also being able to ball play to such a high standard.

Taumalolo at this point in time is purely a power runner, his move from the edges to lock has suited him well but saying he could have as big an affect as SBW or that he has everything Merrin has is just flat out wrong. Merrin & he are very different players, Taumalolo may be the more powerful player but that's about the only advantage he's got over Merrin. Merrin's advantages are his mobility, footwork, offloads & superior defence.

As damaging as Taumalolo is with ball in hand he's a really poor defender. Maloney made an absolute fool of him in our Semi-Final this year. He's a hot talent but he's no where near the finished product so many on here think he is.

I don't recall him being a passenger in the final against us where he ran for 220+ metres with multiple tackle breaks.

He was the 3rd best player on the field in that game behind Maloney and Matt Scott.

Dragons are desperate to retain classy forward Merrin but he's looking like a rooster,
His 2016 move could even be announced as early as this month
Lolo for next season will be the bonus, he is a rough diamond with a big future
his problem has been confidence but now he has it in spades, check the 4 Nations......

What kind of salary cap do you guys have out Bondi Junction way?? Is it the Bulldogs/Souffs/Broncos version of the rubbery salary cap?

Mezz and Taumalolo plus the others that you have. No doubt you guys will lose a few but surely not a real lot....the old story the boys are taking less to stay at the Roosters will trotted out but nobody will be fooled if you happen to pick up both.

Its funny how you guys whinge about Souffs being cheats when you guys are really not much better...that Johnny Tobin character really cracks me up. You just won a premiership 13 months ago, minor premiership, have a star studded roster with other big names to be signed for sure so probably another premiership or 2 in the next 3 to 4 years. Pretty much the envy of most other clubs in the NRL and some of you go on about as if the sky is falling in and you will never never never get over Souffs winning the Premiership. My rant is over, carry on champions!

                            DRAGONS!!!

Snogard, respectfully, why do you choose to hang out on a Roosters forum?

I'd be thrilled to get either Merrin or Lolo but if I had the choice it wound be Lolo. This guy is X-Factor. He is also a couple of years off reaching his potential.
