from a Roosters perspective its not great hearing that Shayne Hayne has retired, he was virtually the only current ref in the rotation to give us a decent go most weekends.

Must have got the old tap on the shoulder for favouring the Roosters.

2013 = nice memories ie; we were given a fair go and the talent shone through.

possibly that's the reason he was encouraged to retire

Possible to get him on board with the training?

We're well and truly f**ked now. I couldn't see it getting any better this year before this news and now there is just no hope of a fair go. It pisses me off that some teams get handed wins while we are at an extreme disadvantage before a game even kicks off.

Looks like Bernard Sutton is the new no 1 and his bias against us is entrenched

Just as concerning is the two players who actually got us penalties in matches Mini and SBW are also gone

We talking about the same same shayne hayne? Thank God this tosser is gone. From what I've seen he was quite possibly our worst ref?

I agree Fletch. He was far and away the best Ref they had. Very level headed, showed respect to the players and I always hoped we would get him for game day.

There's every chance we may set a new record now. The only team to go the whole season without winning a penalty count .

You must be thinking of a different Shane Hayne, the one we're talking about is the only ref to give us anything like a fair go.

I was gutted when I heard this!

I too have a lot of respect for Hayne. He was the best ref in the game by a mile.

I know I keep banging the same drum but:

No. of times 9+ pens received in a game in 2014:

                          Souffs 13
                          Roosters 1

No. of times fewer than 5 pens received in a game in 2014:

                          Souffs Zero
                          Roosters 10

So how much worse will the entrenched refereeing bias be without Hayne?

                          Lord help us.

Someone needs to sit JWH down before the season starts and tell him to forget everything that was entrenched in him at Manly. Being a tough forward does not include giving away stupid penalties every game. If he can't change he is a liability we can't afford any longer

Didn't Hayne crucify us this year 10 - 3 against the Broncos and then shortly after 11 - 2 against Manly?
