THERE is strong mail coming from the Wallabies camp in Europe - and it's not good for poor old rugby union.

Players are talking among themselves about Israel Folau's imminent return to rugby league.

Folau hasn't once committed to rugby when quizzed by the world media.

How will the rah-rahs attract a headline if Folau walks?

Take it as read Folau wants to play State of Origin again. And don't be surprised if he represents the Maroons as a Sydney Rooster.

there is no doubt that Dave Smith would open up his discretionary chequebook for Folau and we could easily find enough third party sponsor to offset the salary cap hit, the only problem is the minimum figure the NRL would require for him to count under the cap.

would certainly cause a stir around the NRL if we did get him, would certainly bring back the hate.

the question might be who would you be willing to give up to get Folau, it would probably take losing SKD/FPN and JWH to get us under the cap.

its funny that Uncle Nick was spotted lunching with Dave Smith recently, everyone just assumed it was in regards Fergo's situation, could it have been about the NRL's willingness to bring Folau back to the code, would have been interesting to be a fly on the wall at that luncheon.

Though we'd have the cap money, we're not in a great position to be spending it with the imminent contract extensions we'll be needing for Tupou, JWH, Guerra etc.

Perhaps the rumours are true and SKD is being moved on for 2015, if it was to acquire Izzy though I wouldn't complain.

couldn't see Folau leaving before the 2015 rugby world cup, if this speculation turns out to be true it would be for 2016, I have always been in the camp that Uncle Nick would be on the lookout for a marquee signing to replace SBW, my top two candidates would be Folau/Foran.

Spot on with everything SC!! Effectively we can pay Folau anything we wanted in the first year and it wouldn't count on the cap. If Nick wanted to he could pay Folau 2mil in that first year, and then the lowest amount the NRL would allow us for the next 2 years, which would probably be about 350/400k on the cap (not including 3rd party deals). So Folau would be well looked after financially and we can work it on our cap extremely well!
