Thing is, Foran isn't worth anywhere near 1.2 mill. That's Thurston money, and Thurston alone. Jimmy is a vital cog in a great team, which puts him at mid 400s imo. Anything more and you hurt your ability to build the sort of team around him he needs to thrive.

I believe we have the correct model... spreading the cap evenly. Penrith are doing something similar and will benefit in two years time when their juniors mature (Moylan, DWZ, Cartwright etc) and IF they can find a quality half and two props.

Even Souffs success was based around an even roster. Although they now have huge upgrades to Reynolds and Keary to contend with.

Melbourne, minus the cap cheating, are starting to pay the price for the obscene contracts recently handed out to the big 3. 2013/14 were bad for them and 2015 looks to be worse. At least in 2012 they were in their prime at 29 years old.

And Manly will only go one way too if they spend all their cap on two players... two players who aren't as good as Thurston. Look at the state of their forward pack now!

Most sounds right except Souffs success had a lot of help from the men in pink, 100+ more in 2014 to be correct... Cap or no cap, Hard to beat a team with that sort of advantage!

Souths success was based around one person. Mitch "Deer Penis Extract" Ross, the Walter White of sports medicine. Dank looks almost squeaky clean compared to him.
          SUPER DRAGON!

Mate you're not just preaching to the choir, you're peaching to the Pope on that point!

But they still had a very balanced team with no weaknesses from 1 to 17.

The referees certainly tipped them over the edge though.

I'd like to see anyone compete with us against a 10-5 penalty count almost every week.

As for Barba being paid a lot, how did that work out for Brisbane? And how did the Dogs go without him?

You significantly overpay players and you pay the price.

Lets see how Hastings develops before we start thinking of punting Maloney.

Maloney was one of our best in 2013, and close to the worst in 2014.

2015 is a big year for him.

I'm a Maloney fan. As I've said before, our trys are worth 6 points.
For me Foran is totally over rated. I'd much rather Maloney

If Jimmy plays for another NRL team, our focus is lost.. Roosters then ESL for Jimmy and a return to Easts as a halves/kicking coach, he's that good and Footy smart.
