Ok, so what is it with the amount of - pardon the expression - jizz flying around for this young bloke?

I think a lot of Roosters supporters are letting their good judgement become clouded due to the history surrounding his name.

The bottom line is, he remains unproven at first grade level. We saw how long it took Mitchell Pearce (ironically, another 'talked up' son of a past rugby league legend) to find his feet at the top level. Upon his debut I remember a similar 'jizz-fest' at the time, and didnt those same supporters turn sour very quickly when he failed shape up to expectations within a matter of rounds!

In addition, I also don't understand supporters who are urging the club to move on Maloney, one of the best hole runners and kickers in the game, because of the belief that this bloke will slot straight in and play like Kevin Hastings.

On top of that, is attitude. There is something about this young bloke that doesn't sit right with me. Rather than having a healthy confidence, he simply comes off as obnoxious and unlikeable. I foresee a generous number of indiscretions before he matures, especially given the good influence of SBW and Minichello are no longer there to guide him.

Don't get me wrong, I hope he succeeds. But i dont think his potential will be realised fully for a number of years, and there is still a lot to debate about how good he will become.

Those expecting Kevin Hastings MK2 may be in for a rude shock.

I've got two words for you. John Bradman. The son of Sir Donald never padded up as far as I know. He ended up being a lawyer.

I can probably name two or three sons and daughters of famous sportsman that have come close to emulating their parents achievements. Laila Ali, Dale Earnhardt Jr and maybe Geoff Marsh's son Shaun (which may change if Clarke's hamstring doesn't improve.)

Being the son of someone famous doesn't always mean anything...except the age old "aren't you so-and-so's son?"

I think he'll be the goods. He has the talent, loves footy and nothing else and has huge drive to succeed. I think the club is testing Maloney, they need him to sign on, but not for a massive amount. If he wants big dollars they will let him leave. They're trying to make the salary cap fit, a few players off contract for season 2016.

Do you not think Pearce has a great footy brain? He runs our whole show and we've been the best attacking side two seasons in a row. In my opinion it's often a player's perception that let's them down rather than their smarts when it comes to understanding the game. Any genuine rep level halfback has an exceptional understanding of the game. I think it shows through his defence as well. In all facets of the game he seems to know the ins and outs of each player's job in the team. And really if a winning Origin coach's son doesn't know the game then what chance are the rest of these blokes.

But I definitely agree on Hastings PB. He hasn't given anyone any reason to doubt that he will succeed. His defence in first grade last year was outstanding for an 18 year old out of position halfback. He seems to have a great ability to count numbers for someone so young. I think in a few years he'll give us some great attacking variety with his kicking game and his long passing looks exceptional so long as he can adapt his game to the pressures of first grade. I think he'll have to work on playing a bit more direct than what he gets away with in 20s. A lot to look forward to with he and Latrell Mitchell, both brilliant all round football players.

Agree with Yak on all fronts, I watched him play a school boys game about 18 months ago and he had the smartest football brain I had ever seen for an 17 year old.
