  • Ex-Rooster Cherrington training with Broncos...

Anthony Cherrington has been training with the Broncos and has picked up a contract with Broncos feeder club Redcliffe.
Interesting to see how that goes. Not much joy out at the Panthers for Cherro, and he looks to have as much strapping on his knees as Petero Civinoceva. Could have been anything once upon a time. Was going to be our next Anthony Toupou when he went to the Sharks, then both their careers went pear-shaped....

Good luck to him. He deserves a second chance.

Hope he goes alright up there.

I suspect his troubles began when he decided to use his girlfriend as a punching bag. But then St George have given a ex-con who stomped on someone's head a contract so I can hardly expect the NRL have standards of behavior.

Second chance??? We gave him several and then Penriff gave him a lifeline, he's had more of a chance than most!!

He's had more chances than Jeremy Sims.

I still remember when he was the next big thing... it was mostly injuries that hurt him wasn't it? But he got to that silly stage where he hadn't played for years (then bailed on us as soon as he looked like recovering).

Meh best of luck to him. I'm expecting nothing from the Broncos this year. Also I get being loyal to a coach, but offloading Barba/Hoffman for Boyd only to see him injured pre-season? I'd cry poor choice if I were a player... reaks of nepotism. Also, going all out to sign Kennedy then releasing him to the market as a bargain? (Hopefully one of our surprise packages). Bit of head scratching there.

After what he did in his last year with St George, his form with what many thought was an unbeatable Newcastle and his moves thus far with Brisbane, IMO Wayne's not up to much when it comes to developing players.

Either way best wishes to Cherro... you only get 10 years to make decent cash. Can't blame a guy for trying to maximise his dollar...

Cherrington is a would be if he could be. A has been before he even made it.

This is a bloke who couldn't make the Riff side in 2014 despite all the injuries they had. Probably injured for most of the season as usual.

Qld Cup is about where he belongs.
