Comparing props based on ages is ridiculous, a lot just flat out don't mature until they're in their mid 20's.
Who was Sam Moa @ 22 years of age?
Who was Paul Gallen @ 22 years of age?
Who was Brenton Lawrence @ 22 years of age?
It's the toughest position in the game and if you're not physically or mentally 100% there yet you're going to be found short. The talent is undoubted it's just that coming of age.
JWH was no different, his real break out season as an established first grader wasn't until 2013 and Issac Liu entering this season @ 24 is no different either, he's just starting to find his feet.
22 is baby years for front rowers, it's amazing what the Under 20's has done to people's perceptions. There is no predetermined time frame for development and there never should be. Look no further than Daniel Tupou, no one wanted to touch him once he became to old for the 20's, because in the eyes of many if you haven't made it by then you're never going to. But that's a rant for another time, a well funded reserve grade comp would do wonders for the game!
My point in comparing ages is that at 22 he should at least be established in first grade even if off the bench.
And yes I am well aware when props mature.
I think we all consider Robbo to be a very knowledgeable coach. Therefore despite our thoughts, there was probably a very valid reason as to why others were given the nod over Kane in the Semis.
Experience. However I have little doubt it's a decision Robbo regrets. There is no doubt Casty and FPN played themselves out of the Roosters club with a continuation of their insipid performances during the regular season.
The fact that they were quickly shown the door whilst Evans has been refused a release is pretty damning evidence of that.
After the finals I was convinced both Casty and FPN would not be tolerated at the club any longer and it was pleasing that the coach was decisive about their futures.

I think he could've played a bit part role this year (like Klemmer did with 20-30 minutes a week) if that's what Robbo really wanted from him but I think there's a bigger picture.
What we learnt this year tends to suggest theres a lot of faith and plans in place for Evans. He got offered a 3 year deal with only a handful of first grade games to his name, very few players with that sort of experience get offered more than 2 years so that tells me he's still regarded as an elite talent. He was playing 60 minutes plus on a regular basis, sometimes 70+ minutes in the NSW Cup which again tends to suggest he's being built up to be more than just an impact prop, if that's how the club viewed him he would've been playing in short explosive based stints. I think he's being built up as a starter who can pay big minutes, not just an impact prop.
I remember when Aaron Woods first burst onto the scene the Tigers fans were very excited about him but Sheens resisted the temptation to play him in first grade and he sent back to the lower grades to pay 70-80 minutes a game so he'd be ready to start and play big minutes the next season and boy did it pay off.
The Sydney Roosters have refused to release rising front-rower Kane Evans .
Several clubs are keen on Evans, a promising 22-year-old who made nine appearances for the Roosters last season.
Evans' management believes the Roosters have too many forwards ahead of the Fijian international in their pecking order and he has a better chance of holding down a regular top grade spot elsewhere.
But with doubts over the retention of star prop Jared Waerea-Hargreaves , who is in the sights of Canberra and Ricky Stuart , the Roosters have told Evans he is not going anywhere.
This story (which appears on zerotackle) is total crap. No substance whatsoever. Take note of the quotes from club officials - there aren't any!

At 22 years of age Jared Warea Hargreaves was only in to his second full season of NRL football and playing often from the bench so I do not believe he was too far ahead of where Kane "The Undertaker" Evans is currently at.
I believe that Trent "Robbo" Robinson made an error towards the back end of season 2014 by leaving Kane Evans out of the team for players such as Remy "Martin" Casty and Frank Paul "The Wrecking Ball" Nuuasala against the larger forward packs. I was rather surprised that Mr Robinson did not show much faith in Kane Evans as our coach has shown a lot of faith in almost all of our younger players and allowed them to play in crucial matches.
I agree Robbo farked up playing that dead beat casty ahead of him last yr
Something has to give at some stage. We have JwH, kane, moa, napa, kennedy and meehan coming through. 6 into 2 doesnt go.
Why 2 Farian? What you smokin brother, need at least 4 quality props in your squad and possibly 6 in total
Kane Napa Evans Lui Meehan are the future of the clubs engine room. JWH and Moa are the hardened campaigners and Kennedy is just a bonus considering the Broncs are paying a chunk of his salary. Can't see us renewing Kennedy and possibly Moa next contract time and JWH will be offered huge $$$ and we may make the call to let him go.
Sam has been our most consistent prop, if not forward, the last two years.
Not denying that but the salary cap and a plan of succession should be in place and the money spent on Sam and possibly JWH for another 2-3 yrs may be better spent on keeping the younger blokes who by that time will hopefully be near enough to peaking career wise
