  • Roosters sign Jone Waqaliva

apparently his is another one of the Fijians unearthed by Freddy/Joey on their recent trip.

Jone is a centre who has represented Fiji at under 18 level.

certainly worth taking the punt, perhaps in time he could be the next Semi Radradra.

I hope it wasn't Freddy/Joey who found him. They probably found a plant in Fiji with the effects of LSD.

It's easy to impress when you're stepping elephants and have lightning bolts coming from your eyes.

I've got a lot of time for most Fijian players absolute naturals of the game, be interesting to see how ex rooster sisa waqa fairs with Canberra this year after he proved himself at the storm.

I just hope he is better then the one they found for Penrith , punted to St George for this season, can run the ball ok, but like most Fijians, still has no idea about defence, or reading the defensive part of the game, even after a couple of seasons in our game.

How do you know he has officially signed? Or are the Roosters along with many other clubs just giving these guys a trial?
"Do you expect me to talk"? "No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to die".

Were Freddy and Joey bent at the time?

No more Cronk and Slater settting him up for trys. Will fizzle out by mid season.

Speaking of Canberra , Rather than target the next Eto Nabuli, we should draw our attention to a real player in Edrick Lee. Under the right coach , he could be another toops.
                  Comment of the year:

Andrew Johns, Semi-Final vs North Queensland ,

"It's touched Lui's hand and travelled forward but that's not a knock on"

He has a really strange running action to me. Likely because of his height. Never rated him.

The guy is built from toothpicks, putting bulk on would hurt his speed. I like how he plays, but he seems to get injured easily.

For sure... I remember our rugby tours to Fiji as a kid. Admittedly we were soft private school boys, but every team we played was full of ripped, athletic boys who knew how to handle a ball.

I went back to Fiji a few months ago and saw a lot of people with natural League bodies. A guy I met (now a friend) works as a farmer and sells chops at his BBQ outside the pub every night. Stuff all the gym buffs with their magic powders and tight shirts... this guy naturally had the kind of body that I reckon could handle NRL training and contact. He was also a whizz at chucking the ball around/kicking when we played a bit of touch in the park. Okay not saying sign this guy... but I think for a small country, Fiji has a looooot of talent.
