Once Packers new casino is up and running it would not surprise me that his gambling/casino company will partner the NRL. It's all being set with the Packer / Crowe relationship so no wonder the dodgy Richardson is now at the NRL

You sir, are a sage sir. I think you will find that is why the fact that South Sydney was drugged up to the eyeballs thanks to Mitch Ross the American version of Stephen Dank is not being investigated by ASADA.

The fix is in. And, for one, am just waiting for Michael Clarke to retire so I can watch cricket again full time and give the NRL the arse from my life.

If Hastings was called Smith I think few on here would rate him.

It's a point... since he came over as a 15/16 year old people have been saying he's ready for first grade. I remember laughing at a few people saying 'get rid of our current halves/fullback... Hastings time!!!' because he was a skinny 15 y/o who woulda been crushed in first grade.

I think his skills also speak for themselves and we're lucky to have him. However, were his name say I dunno... Cornish? Would he get the same coverage?

As much as I like the Hastings name, Tyler Cornish was a MASSIVE signing based on junior form/reputation. I think if the club's smart, they'll make it clear to Hastings that regardless of who his dad is, he's competing with Cornish (and others possibly) to be the junior who gets a run in first grade. Cornish is his competition, not Pearce and Maloney at this stage. IMO we'd be stupid to let Cornish think he'll never get a run at our club because nepotism is rife.

Do you think Cornish has it to make first grade. I personally don't based on what I have seen. I just don't think he is near big enough nor good enough. I think Hastings has much more potential but will not be ready for quite a while.

I do think you have it right in your time frame and competition though

Tyler Cornish is nowhere near the level of his brother Mitch at the Raiders. He's put on a bit of size in the off season which will help him cope defensively but he's really just not the best player. He's got a good deceptive running game but the rest of his game is pretty weak and certainly not even close to what Hastings has offers. Your name does not give you a great long ball. It doesn't give you vision. It doesn't give an impressive short kicking game. He worked for those things. And those people that have seen Hastings play, in particular those with some pull in rugby league circles are calling him a gun based on their observations of how he plays not his name. If they did that they wouldn't have jobs for long.

As long as his attitude and discipline holds up over the next few years he will turn into a top NRL half based on his current skill set and how well he's shown to apply it.

Interesting points you raise there Issy, however I thought Jackson came across to us a little over 12 months ago as a 17 (nearly turning 18), year old, not a 15 or 16 year old as suggested.

Having said that I agree with Yak, he can become a top NRL player in a few years time if he has the right attitude and desire. He definitely has a rare skill set and would have been noticed regardless of who his dad was.

After watching Jackson play the thing that impressed me most was his toughness and cool demeanour, he also has a solid skill set which would be well suited to playing at 9, 6 or a fill in at 1.

He only played his 1st season with us last year. He is signed for 2 more. He is still only 19

Thanks mate, for helping clarify. I was being pendantic as he joined us from Oct/November 2013 in the off season but you are right he played his first season with us in 2014 as an 18 year old.

He was never with us aged 15-16 as was suggested further up the thread.

                          Cheers n Happy Birthday Easts
