  • Robinson to take Nines seriously this year.

Roosters coach Trent Robinson expects to name a stronger Auckland Nines side to that of last year with the club not having to focus on the World Club Challenge this time around. As evidence the club are taking the competition seriously, Robinson has revealed he has spoken to a number of experts in preparation for the tournament.

“We’ve spent some time talking internally and getting some Sevens experts to talk to us about the Nines concept and how we want to play,” Robinson told Roosters TV on Friday.

“We’ve had a couple of training sessions and will ramp it up over the next couple of weeks… “We want to do the jersey justice when we are over there.”

Evans is a better player this year, and probably won't be tackled into touch 'all the time' like he was in the 9s last year.

Souths sizzled in attack in the 9s last year, and eventually won the NRL premiership.
