You're right. That game against Newcastle and the 100 minute tigers game were the two most memorable non premiership wins. I was lucky enough to be at both games. And the win against manly in the gf.

Agree totally went to both premiership wins and plenty other memorable games including the Tigers final and Knights PF. Almost impossible to split those two games you have mentioned BC, however, subjectively for me the Knights PF due to the magnitude of the comeback led by Freddy. Also the quality of the opposition,giving it to the Johns brothers after their half-time antics and breaking through to a first grand final after following the Roosters since 1977. (Tigers was a big comeback as well).

The Knights and Tigers wins were amazing.

But I have the 2003 Prelim vs the Bulldogs slightly ahead. We were absolutely brilliant, led by Freddy, Wing and Moz, and gave them a pasting in the end to put to bed any doubts about our 2002 credentials.

Unfortunately it was such a monumental game that we burned all our emotional energy and didn't have enough left for the GF.

Such a tragedy as the 03-04 Roosters were the best NRL side I've ever seen... and they were two poor GF performances away from immortality!

Another match that sticks out in my mind was us against the bulldogs. I recall being behind on the scoreboard and moz getting sent off for a high shot (which went to the judiciary and wasn't high at all) and we managed to come back and win with 12 men. Can't remember the year or venue but I remember the crowd going ballistic and giving it to all the dogs fans.

I'm pretty sure that win against the Dogs with 12 men was 2005. It was on a Friday night and it was a Bulldogs home game..possibly that dump they called the showground.

Eastern Suburbs missed the finals once from 1926 to 1942, and in that time won four titles and the minor premiership on seven occasions.During this period, Dave Brown set several point-scoring records that still stand. In 1935, the team lost just one game,and recorded the highest winning margin in their history, an 87–7 (106–8 in modern scoring) victory over Canterbury. In 1936, Eastern Suburbs became one of five teams in premiership history to remain undefeated for an entire season, a feat they repeated the following year. They are the only club to remain unbeaten for two consecutive seasons.

Despite claiming the premiership in 1945, Eastern Suburbs failed to make the finals for the following seven seasons. A runners-up finish in 1960 was the closest the club came to claiming the premiership during this era. Eastern Suburbs were soundly defeated 31–6 in the grand final that year, by the famous record-beating St George outfit. In 1966, the club fell to new depths and was winless for the first time in its history. It was also the last occasion in which the Roosters won the wooden spoon until claiming it again in the 2009 season.It ended a poor run for Eastern Suburbs; from 1963 to 1966, they won 8 of 72 matches, finishing second to last in 1964 and last in the other three years. The club underwent a renaissance in 1967 after appointing Jack Gibson as coach (1967–68), and introducing a new emblem on the playing jerseys, the rooster.

The 2002 and 2013 premierships were amazing, but nothing will ever beat the prelim against the Knights in 2000. To this day I've never lost the plot like I did that night.

That Bulldog game was in 2005 and was at the Olympic Stadium. Happy to say I've was at all of those games and many many more.
