With the season a month away I really hope the announcement is made soon. I think the announcement is over due.

I want the captain on field at all times so I think Pearce should get it. As for his communicative skills I think he is much improved and will continue to improve.
Guerra is the smokey. I think Friend was odds on until this injury. I think Robbo will avoid Pearce as he won't want to overburden him - hence JWH as my (Robbo's) pick.
I'd like Aubs or Guerra personally, I think they should both go close to 80 minutes each week, barring injury.

The halfback owns the victory... he's on the field all the time (and RARELY misses games)... also he's good at assists. Unless we had a Fitzgibbon (Boyd's almost there TBH) then I'd be hesitant about picking a forward because they rotate too much.
Maloney... hasn't been with the club as long as Pearce (neither has Friend) otherwise I'd sign them off as potentials.
Wishing Pearce all the best!!! Can't see anybody else TBH. We're a tight playing group and have a lot of talent all over field so TBH I don't think it's a massive problem not having 1 definite big daddy captain who we all adore and look up to.
Edit: Off-field captains play a role too... maybe an important role given Fergo's around? I dunno if Pearce is gonna be the right type to grab Fergo by the collar, say 'enough mate we're going home!!' and to help avoid trouble. His arrest last year raises questions about this TBH. Hopefully we have enough mature heads going out with him saying 'don't be an effing d-head Fergo!!!!' I think Boyd/JWH/Moa are good like that.
When I saw the boys in Canberra I'll make special mention of Moa. Lots of Raiders fans were sitting in the Raiders club yelling sh*t at Fergo as he was leaving. Moa had a really cool mind, blocked all of the ciriticisms and threw a couple of cheeky remarks at the fans that shut them up and completely prevented the matter from escalating. Maybe he won't be captain but it's good having some mature/street smart heads around the playing group.Last edited by ism22; 02-04-2015, 05:51 PM.

He is the longest serving player.
His best footy is in front of him.
He plays the full 80 minutes every game.
Pound for pound he is the toughest player in the side.
He has plenty of courage & he does not baulk at the hard stuff, that's tackling he is the best 1/2 in the game at defence.
Captaincy will actually make him a better person & player.
IMO he has to be the captain there is no one else other than Friend if Pearce was injured. If both were injured I would make Maloney captain.

Here's looking at you, kid.

I would not be surprised if its all done and dusted and the players and staff know.
To me thats more important than announcing it, but it would be nice to know. The Internet is a place for posting silly things
Try and be serious and you will look stupid
