  • Knights Vote To Chase Mason

    Telegraph

NEWCASTLE is set to open negotiations with Sydney Roosters discard Willie Mason as early as today following a meeting of club officials this morning.

The meeting, attended by senior Knights officials and coach Rick Stone, voted to recommend to the club’s board of directors that the Knights pursue Mason.

The board is certain to rubber-stamp the decision this afternoon, opening the way for negotiations to kick off between the club and Mason.

Knights chief executive Steve Burraston said the over-whelming support of Knights fans and sponsors in regard to signing Mason had played a significant part in decision.

North Queensland is the only other NRL club interested in Mason.

I think that's where he'll end up - at the Knights. Newcastle would be more appealing to him than North Queensland I think?

If you notice Easts are being very tight-lipped about the whole saga..

"He has been granted extended leave"

"He has permission to negotiate with other clubs"

      That's about it...

Even if he gets an offer from Newcastle he then has to come back to Easts to negotiate a release...($$$pay-out figure etc..)

We have him by the balls now...

He is starting to get desperate...

Well the Ferral Inbreds certainly have a culture where he'll fit right in.

I'd rather he relocate further up the F3 (ie; NQ) but beggers can't be choosers I suppose.

I think it refers to the fact that he grew up there and his family lives there and his brother has been picked in their NYC squad... Townsville isn't the best place either...

Remembering of course that as things stand right now, we're committed to paying $450,000 (or more than 10% of our entire 2010 salary cap) to someone who will not be playing for us in 2010

We pretty much have ourselves by the balls

Maybe Politis can fark things up even more by playing tough guy in the negotiations and blowing the whole deal

Who the **** is coming up with the 60 to 80k price tag? For that amount of money i would rather have the blugger sitting on the side lines for the year.

We obviously look at the same situation in different ways...

What has been the common theme with everything Mason has said..??

He wants to play NRL footy..

As it stands ATM he will be lucky to play park footy with his current contract..

We have already written off that money..Our squad is complete without him...

                      Watch him squirm...

Maybe that's because getting some sort of revenge against the individual does nothing to change the fact that 10% of the total cap has been spent on a guy who won't play. That's a disgraceful situation for the club to be in. I couldn't care less what Mason wants, or whether he'll get it

Oh, hold on. The money's already been written off?

                          What great news

There should be no hold up with the negotiations then and all should be sorted in a day or 2. Unless of course, Politis can **** that up too. Maybe he'll send Bouris and that Morello guy to handle the negotiations

Roosters Board: "So Willie, you want to play for Newcastle?"
BWM: "They want me to play for them unlike you lot."
Roosters Board: "Excellent, so you're asking for a release from your Roosters contract then ..."
BWM: "Well, no, yes, no, um, hmmm, well, you can pay the contract out and I'll go."
Roosters Board: "You're asking for a release from your Roosters contract Willie, thank you for your time and there will be no payout. Enjoy losing one colour from your jersey."

Well, that's how I hope it goes.

Do you think he and his manager will come back from Newcastle and sit down with management and say "The Knights have offered me $50K for 2010, so if you can just sign a cheque for the other $400K(As you like to say), we can forget about all this, and head up to the Cross together and bang some hookers"..

Because I don't think so ToK...
