I have a better idea. How about we let them both go to another club.

Liam will never set the world on fire, and we can do without Keiran as well.

Liam is great for depth, he might never set the world on fire like you say but he does his job and does it very well.

Our ignorance to depth over the past few seasons has been one of our greatest down falls. To win a premiership these days you need more than just a good 17 players.

Does anyone know if Liam is still training in the number 9 position? Earlier reports (just after Jake was given a holiday) were that he was and he was training the house down. Maybe we will see in the trials.

If he was that good a utility you would have thought one of Manly, the Storm or the Warriers would have hung onto him, it's not as if he'd have been that highly paid.

I'd have both Carney and Jones in the halves at our club before him, and he cannot be that good a dummy half if Kouparitsis is still being trialed at No. 9.

Liam is a career reserve grader who will be granted the occasional NRL game if we are unlucky enough to have multiple suspensions and/or injuries.

I think he was rotating in that position with James Aubusson and Nick Kouparitsis. But I'd say with Olireti Samuelu getting a run in the trials, if he impresses he'll probably be third choice hooker with Foran reverting back to the 7 jersey for the Jets. But IMO I'd like to see Liam Foran in the hooker position to gauge his progress.

Jones and Carney are totally different players to Liam who apparently played for Manly I'm starting to question how much you actually know about this bloke...?

Liam is a good organiser... if Pearce went down he'd be the perfect replacement. His brother Keiran on the other hand is too similar to the 5/8's we already have at the club and would be a surplus signing.

Well I do know that he was playing in the Manly lower grades before he went to the Storm so I assume he was contracted to Manly, who did not think him worth keeping as part of their senior squad and so he went to the Storm, who did not think him worth keeping either, so it's off to the Warriers and hello, doesn't last half a season there before turning up at Newtown.

I don't want either brother and we don't need either player.

Pearce and the Foran brothers played for the same junior footy club... are you trying to tell me that Pearce also played for Manly now? Liam's first contract was with the Storm.

It was his decision to go to the Warriors, returning home but it didn't work out because for whatever reason they decided that Jones was untouchable, he may never be a first grader but he's certainly very good for depth and like I said there's no reason to get rid of him it's not like he's take a whole heap of our salary cap up.

I just wonder whether you're one of the people who are judging him based on guilty by association.

                  Both Foran brothers and Mitchell Pearce played their junior football with the Asquith Magpies,which now competes in a combined North Sydney,Manly Warringah Junior competition.{I say now because they didnt when I was playing with them in the 60`s and 70`s}
Kieran was first contracted to Manly NYC
Liam was first contracted to Storm.
                  Mitchell of course to us.

No, I am judging him based on what he has achieved during his career so far, which is very little.

I wouldn't give a stuff if Liam stays or goes - he's a non event. The problem is if we end up signing Keiran the likelihood is a condition that there's a contract for his brother as well, deserved or not.

So we end up spending more money on Liam just to acquire Keiran. To me that's bad recruitment from all sides.

And I do apologise for believing Liam was signed to Manly. I thought he was contracted to them via JF/NYC. Obviously I was mistaken.

I don't care much about the Keiran rumour because I think it has as much legs as the Pearce to Manly rumour. As long as the connection between the Foran boys and pearce as well as the Foran's boys mum and POS are there their manager (I believe they are with the same bloke) will use it to get every cent possible out of their respective club.

My point is, we should hold onto Liam as he's great for depth... he may never set the world alight but as far as halfbacks go he's the only other genuine one we have after Pearce. If Pearce was to go down he could very easily perform the role that Robson did for the Eels this year although I think he is more naturally gifted than him (Robson).

Well, thankfully it looks Kieran Foran is going to stay with the flying vermin long term.

Kieran Foran to ink new Manly deal

By Steve Gee From: The Daily Telegraph February 13, 2010 12:00AM

BOOM Manly playmaker Kieran Foran is poised to ink a new four year deal with the Sea Eagles as the club looks to shore up its halves following Matt Orford's move to England.

The 19-year-old, who tasted Test football with New Zealand in last year’s Four Nations series, revealed last night he expects to have his future finalised before the start of the season.

The 2008 premiers seem to have staved off rivals including the Warriors, who were hovering for the youngster's services.

Foran, who appears set to get first shot at filling Orford's boots at the scrumbase, said he was delighted to remain at the club.

"I'm close to resigning. It will be a four-year deal,'' he said. "It could happen any time soon.''
