  • Jones's future in the 9 jersey??

He seemed to handle himself very well there tonight & his defence was very solid & error free.

    I liked what I saw.
Jones's guile and versatility means he starts the season as an excellent benchman, and our 2nd hooker.
Our team's versatility is doubled should Tom Symonds also start on the bench

I'm watching the replay on Fox HD (second half just started) but he's a revelation at hooker, I think. Losing Friend is no big deal if you ask me as long as we have Jones at dummy half.

phil gould gave jones a massive rap

talked about how he thought jones was a dumm-half from the first time he saw him

im keen to see jones at hooker this year, he played great but i didn't see any dummy half runs from him

Funny how many people shot FC down in flames last year when he suggested exactly this......

And Benny remembers how often FC told him this.....He almost got first across the line for him too.....

yep not suprised....call me bandwagon or whatever but i cant say that i didnt say this at least a couple of times - his build and attributes were always perfect - good acceleration and ball skills, great defender (therefore when you put big blokes around him he cant get trampled like he is vulnerable to have happen on the edges but instead tackle low and use the big blokes around him to help secure the player. He would be a wing/isaac luke esc hooker imo and off the bench will be great with symonds, hargreaves and paea - very good bench imo and very well balanced and diverse. I still would like to see friend come back to us tbh. He is a real gem as well and with jones off the bench who gives great utility value and friend starting at hooker with pearce and carney floating around the halves we are looking very very good in fact i dare say the best 1, 6, 7 and 9 combo in the comp potentially very easily.

The 20 minutes that I saw he was ordinary. Dropping balls, getting caught at dummy half and missing tackles. People's expectations are not very high these days.

Looked OK with the ball, saw a couple of turnstyle tackles that worry me.

2 missed tackles and 1 error.

                      What game were you watching.

Thought he was very solid in all facets of his game. Like Gould said a rugby league player not an athlete.

He looked like a guy who was just thrown in at the last second, wait a minute. Those errors must have all occured in the 20 minutes that I watched.
