THE Cowboys have reason to fear a drop in membership sales with NRL bad-boy Willie Mason's former club the Roosters enjoying a massive surge in memberships since the controversial forward officially left the club to head north 11 days ago.
The Roosters have sold 409 memberships since February 5 when Mason made his move to the Townsville club - an increase of more than 40 per cent from the 287 memberships sold in the 10 days before Mason's departure.
Roosters membership manager Susan Knott said the club sold more than 58 memberships in the two hours immediately following the news Mason would be moving on.
The Roosters have sold 2600 ticketed memberships and are in good shape to reach their goal of 6000 ticketed and non-ticketed memberships this year.
The surge also coincides with the Roosters signing producers Steggles as their major sponsor until 2012.
