I guess I'd just prefer that our board actually have some dignity and class instead of feeling the need to defend themselves to mason's comments.

If anything, articles like this one plus the efforts of Bouris on The Grill Team just give people more reason to take Mason's side. Boards should not be seen or heard. They should just keep the club running a let the coach, CEO and Club Captain be the faces of the organisation.

At a football club, there’s a holy trinity – the players, the manager and the supporters. Directors don’t come into it. They are only there to sign the cheques.

A lot of Roosters fans think it's normal for directors to be involved in day to day football operational matters.

Doesn't happen at any other club.

So the stories of Melbourne and Manly's boards saying they didn't want Mason after their coaches and players had come out and said they did weren't true then?

And the fact the Knights board arranged a special meeting to decide whether to sign Mason didn`t happen either. Those TV cameras lied to us all...

That's right, nothing to do with the boards. Graham Lowe announced manly weren't interested, Waldron the same for Melbourne. They're CEOs. We have a CEO too, but you don't hear much from him

No other club has a board that operates so far outside its charter

I know it's difficult for you to grasp

The CEO is accountable to the board and does their bidding.

It's like that with every NRL club bar the Rabbits who just do what Rusty tells em to do.

So their CEO's made these decisions without consulting their boards?

You are just so ignorant of the facts TOK.Try reading this article to get yourself a grasp on reality...

THE Sea Eagles have dropped plans to snare Willie Mason after fans and sponsors voiced overwhelming hostility to the controversial star this morning.

The Daily Telegraph today revealed Manly and North Queensland were Mason's last two realistic lifelines for an NRL start in 2010.

However, Manly CEO Graham Lowe this morning issued a statement saying the club was no longer interested.

                      “The management
of the Manly Sea Eagles today decided not to make an offer to Willie Mason for the upcoming 2010 Telstra Premiership," the statement said.

“We are content with the squad we have and are confident of a successful season.

“The club is eager to move on from the speculation of Mason joining the club and is continuing to work hard in preparation for the season ahead."

It is understood strong negative reaction from fans and sponsors forced Manly's hand. The club is still looking for a sleeve sponsor for this year.

Contracted to the Roosters but no longer welcome at Bondi, Mason has attracted interest from Melbourne, Cronulla, New Zealand and Wests Tigers since he was given permission to look elsewhere last October.

But the colourful 29-year-old's off-field reputation has so far prevented him from finding a new home, despite the fact he's willing to turn out for little more than minimum wages this season.

Yesterday, Manly great Bob Fulton threw his support behind the idea of snaring Mason - labelling the former NSW and Test star "an exceptional buy for Manly".

He said he believed Manly coach Des Hasler could reform the powerhouse potential that won Mason the 2004 Clive Churchill Medal, imploring directors and fans to welcome him to the northern beaches.

"I think he'd be an exceptional buy for Manly," said Fulton, a former Sea Eagles coach and perpetually respected figure at the club.

"Given what's happened over the past six to eight months at the Roosters, I know he'd have a lot to prove. From what I know about Des Hasler as a coach, Manly would be the perfect place for Willie to turn his career around."

Yesterday, Mr Lowe confirmed Hasler also wanted Mason at Brookvale and the club was considering hiring him, indicating any decision would be made quickly.

"I don't want this to be dragging on and on," Mr Lowe said then.

"We want to decide whether to pursue it as soon as possible.

"I've obviously heard a lot about Willie, but never met him.

"Des has a good opinion of him, but I've got a range of other things to consider."

After this morning's developments, though, it appears the Cowboys are now Mason's only hope.

Club representatives met his management in North Queensland yesterday.

It's understood senior Cowboys players want Mason at the club, and officials are preparing to discuss whether to make an offer over the next 48 hours.

Both Manly and North Queensland saw Mason as a high-value proposition, given the Tigers came close to signing him for $60,000 plus a third-party deal that would not have counted under the cap.
Whilst Knights CEO Steve Burraston will meet with the Knights Football Committee tomorrow as scheduled previously to discuss the club's position on snaring Mason, the statement said.

                        Very true.

Hopefully Brian Smith is the coach to finally put them in their place and force them to stop chasing the spotlight.

No one bought into our "glamour club" status more than the board.

NO this club will never learn- The proof is in Friend they are still hanging onto him.
The others that were not significant players were pissed of ASAP.
Believe me if Friend was a so- so talent he would be gone.
so nothing has changed except the punishment is bit more severe
have a look at what they done with Myles - seriously he should have been flicked .
They just dont learn so we are not squeaky clean yet as the top liners still know they can get away with a bit.

Well the Novice is officially back in the rooster family. Bay 14EE for this season.

Mind you, I couldn't purchase online because the bloody system wouldn't register me or log me in (perhaps I'm blackbanned). Ended up ringing up in frustration and Susan in memberships very kindly sorted it out all for me. And yes, I was still on their computer system.

I do reckon that $12 to post it is a little steep, but it's easier for me than making a trip to Bondi atm.

I'm told my package will arrive early next week. We'll see.

Not sure how many games I'll actually get to, as I have other obligations I need to work around. But at least the seat is there when I can use it.

So if anyone sits anywhere near Bay 14EE, be warned - I'm back. And you will hear me loud and proud - apologies in advance for the profanities I will undoubtedly be guilty of coming out with

                              They are an absolute farce.
Did you know that their supporters can sign up their pets to a special supporters membership which probably goes towards their tally.
I nearly pissed myself laughing a few years back when my work colleague bragged about his pet dogs each receiving a signed birthday card by their club captain (Bryan Fletcher) at the time LOL!
