Either Vidot or Dugan from Canberra would be useful buys, but I believe Canberra have them sewn up for a while.
I don't believe we need to purchase any forwards - what we need to do is develop the younguns we already have and don't gift them onto other clubs once we've done the hard yards and buy yet another expensive dud import.

Apart from his obvious talent, One of his attributes is loyalty, this is why i resepct him as a player.
Like i said, unless the tigers screw him over, he will not leave.

all downside, very little upside

I will be interested to see what the club does with players like Symonds, Jones, Friend and the like. Will they be patient or will it just become too hard. These three could be the next Flannery, Crocker and Cross

Just a general comment, i think the reason why this thread is being laughed at by some is not because of the debate it is insighting (quite a valid issue) but more the names being tossed around. To say we need some quality so lets just buy inglis and smith and whilst we are at it why dont we add in thurston and hayne is just pointless and silly. No club can succeed with such a recruitment agenda and even so I dont think we need to be signing marquee players more players that will fill out the squad. If we get jake friend back, jones continues to develop as a hooker and jaubs fulfills his potential that he has already displayed then why the hell do we need a hooker? In terms of centres, we have cheyse blair, ryan williamson and du plessis coming through who make up the best 2 australian schoolboys centres of the last couple of years and the best young south african rugby talent going around. Du plessis has played one game of league (yes it was park footy) but scored a hatrick and blair has been picked to play in the foundation cup. We are all too familiar with the quality of williamson as well. In short, there is no need imo in buying one or two new centres on massive money but instead maybe another experienced centre to simply bridge the gap or someone like inu who has the ability and experience but is underperforming and being shopped around and in the short term at least can play centres very capably however once these younger blokes mature he can be shifted onto the wing or even to fullback to accomodate the young talent so i think a more versatile centre like inu would be a smarter purchase.
I also think we are one prop short. I think once ryles retires in a couple of years we will have JWH, FPN, Paea, Kennedy, Masoe and Myles as the frontrow rotation. Pretty strong i must admit but probably one short imo and i dare say maybe even a little too similar. Paea, FPN and Masoe are all very similar sorts of props in slightly deviant ways - big, strong, mobile, aggressive impact players, Kennedy is a workhorse like myles and JWH is an enforcer. I believe out of FPN, Masoe and Paea we should shed one and replace him with someone like matt scott who is a metre eater and would add another dimension to our frontrow. I went on and on during the year when he wasnt being re-sigined by the cowboys about how we should have made a play and still think we should have. Exhibit b for mine would be someone like kade snowden - just wait to see this guy explode.
