Remember Hollywood Bill from the box putting Myles on report for "lashing out" with his boots whilst playing the ball? (something we see 15 times a match) It was a deadset farce and was correctly thrown out by the judiciary......but it didn't stop the Broncos from scoring from the resulting penalty.

It was this kind of shit that sent me off the edge, the refereeing sent me cuckoo..add in our pea hearted team and rugby league was painful to watch last season.

Its clearly an act of bias by the referees, however I think that we have brought it on ourselves with a couple seasons of poor discipline. We have played dumb around the ruck for several years and now refs are looking for it and penalising us more severely than others.

Think of us as Morley and the refs as the judiciary. We let a few too many drift high and now they are pinging us for everything.

suggesting that referees are biased against us is ridiculous

I dissagree. The standard of referring we have received over a number of years is beyond refs incompetence.Maxwell and Cummins actually laughed at us on a number of occasions when a winning try was scored against us off one of their completly wrong penalties over the last two years.
Two media outlets have commented and have suggested the same thing as Danish has TOK.
Hopefully this year we are proven wrong, but with the 2 names mentioned I doubt it...

fans of every club will tell you that their team gets a rough deal

referees may be incompetent at times, but they're certainly not biased

                Don't forget inconsistent as well.

I agree that they are not intentionally biased.

I'm not suggesting its a spoken thing, like they all sit down with Finch and he writes on the whiteboard "PENALISE THE ROOSTERS".

I'm simply stating that the roosters have built themselves a reputation for sloppy work in the play the ball, both in lying on players and hands in the ruck, and now that reputation precedes us.

I don't believe we get penalised without infringement. Simply that referees subconsciously watch our players more closely than others.

Much like Morley with his high tackles. He laid out a few people too many, so that by the end of his career refs were watching him closer than anyone and pinging him for anything that could technically be viewed as a high shot.

Exactly. I know when I watched him at home last season I was yelling at the TV telling our blokes to get up quicker and get their hands off the bloody ball in defence, because I knew that the refs had lost patience with us (and with good reason, so had I) and that any small infringement would be punished.

The Roosters have built a rod for their own back in the past season and a bit. It may take a while to change the refs' mindsets now.

But if the team is good enough, it will overcome any penalty count.

Maxwell and Cummins cetainly do not provide enough in their performances against us to prove bias does not exist.
Remember Braiths infamous quote to Maxwell in the souffs game 2 years ago.
Just watch these two closely in action reffing us this season with these bias doubts raised in mine...

Nothing is certain in this world. I would suggest that, given the money that is gambled on League, it is highly likely that some referees have been corrupt at some time over the last 102 years.

Refereeing Rugby League now involves many subjective decisions - particularly when it comes to penalties in the ruck. It would be very easy for a referee to rig a game and not get caught.

it would be nigh on impossible for a referee to rig a game and not get caught

Yes but penalties at crucial times as well as 50/50 decisions help sway matches in another team's favour.

Exactly why would Rugby League be exempt from the kind of behaviour that occurs in other sporting events all around the World.. Countless Soccer Leagues, Basketall, Boxing all have had issues with corrupt referees at the highest level amongst other sports.. Why do we close our eyes to say it cannot happen in Rugby League?
