The thing I learned is that when you have a team that is struggling with confidence, the referees can rub your nose in it. The penalty count in that Warriors game in Auckland last year - 13 to 4 or thereabouts after we were leading 16-0 on the scoreboard - killed our season.

Then again, the rubbish the team comes up with on the field breeds more rubbish against us from the refs.

We were absolutely crucified by the referees and video refs in the 1st half of last season.
