I am going to be in the minority but I say Carney for fullback.
Why, because it gives up more options. In attack it doesn't matter what number is on his back he will play like a 5/8. What it does do is gives extra options.

If Carney is #6 then there is an extra outside back on the field.
If Carney is #1 then its an extra #6 or #13 on the field, for me a much better option.

This depends on his ability to adapt to the positional play of #1 when the opposition has the ball.

For me Mini sis still a little while off his best

When Carney went to 5/8 we looked twice as dangerous. For mine It's Carney 6, Pearce 7, Anasta 13 and Miniciello 1.

I think that is the only option

            Or Anasta nowhere at all

He isn't a lock hence why he's never wanted to play there

Carney's sharpness yesterday just highlights how totally ineffective our attack has been with the slowest 5/8 in the comp in the position

Anasta was one of our best last year.

For me the thing in the past was not a slow 5/8 or lack of ability/creativity in the halves, it was a huge lack of structure over the last few years.

Now there is some structure, some notion that the coaching staff have a clue.
Whether the team sets the world on fire or not, is another question but the fact that there is at least one person with a brain behind the team is a good start.

Cogburn is right ( gasp!) Anasta to lock, while moving Nate to 2nd row and Cherro on the bench is the best possible move.

Anasta can be creative, while Pyles and the Aubbo brothers can pick up the extra workload. The only question is when to bring Cherro on? Both Pyles and Maubs are big minute players.

Your bleak outlook on a future without recruiting big name stars.

                        and that's saying very little

he isn't anywhere near a good enough defender to play lock, nor is a good enough ball runner

and keeping him at 5/8 guarantees an innefective attack

and lots of bombs from 40m out on the last

You don't think we need a decent centre and a decent hooker?

Hooker, I think we are fine.

Regarding a centre, yes we do need one, however shelling out cash for a big name doesn't make sense to me. I'd rather them pluck a youngster who is new to fg than a $250k veteran.

                              We need an experienced centre.

I was thinking that as well all off season Coggy, but apart from Graham who we signed, there was stuff all available on the market for this season. Now I am liking the depth we have in this position with what I have seen and believe with our junior bunch we have to step up and make it this year.
I am now more worried with our depth up front and think we need another hard head forward to give us the go forward needed. I was hoping Boyd Cordner may have been the one to do this in 2011 and 12,but his knee injury will set this right back.I would be using our cap space for this role if our current centres develop the way I am hoping.
