Who is Ryles OVER RATED by ? Nobody on this site from what Ive seen. I think he will go OK....im not expecting him to be a superstar, but his experience will come in handy and I think Smith will get the best out of him, we just have to wait and see how good that is....heres hoping.

Theres a story about Ryles in the RLW today and Smith was saying that because he is a big lad,people expect him to be bash and barge and its not his game.Apparently he is fit as and competes with the backs in the beep test.He is a worker that plays good minutes and thats what we need to go along with the impact players in FPN and Lopini.
P.S Speaking of RLW...i smell another over-rated "award" for our boys in the players poll again this year

if you actually decide to read my next post, i actually rate Ryles, the way your companies journo, (and i use the term losely), his tag of ryles being overrated leads the average joe that ryles is rated beyond his ability and role at the club.

Mason was coming back from a serious knee injury and will be playing much better football at the cowboys, thats not to say the guy isnt a cancer for other younger players, but he will play better footy this year.

He said we'll miss Mason... is it possible to miss something that was never there? He makes a claim then fails to back it up with any substantial evidence.

He is also correct that wooden spooners getting 6 consecutive tv games the year after is quite perplexing considering theres over half a dozen clubs whos games rate higher then ours.

He carried the Dragons for years, he consistently makes ~150m per game which is up there with the best of the best. You look at Price & Civo and their worth to their teams can't be measured.

Ryles being overrated goes back to 2002 when Gould picked him to start in the deciding game of Origin over some more publicly backed opponents... he then continued to pick him up until his (Gould) retirement from SOO. In 2005 he was the incumbent and again selected in the starting position... coincidence that NSW never lost a series between that period?

Now before you go off your head it was not just Ryles who won the games it was the selection criteria that they had right at the time. Until they decided to go messing with it in '06 players who deserved to be there were there and that includes Ryles one of the best props in the game. Gould saw this but News Limited who were proven wrong have since lead the overrated bandwagon... Rothfield just doing his bit.

So the general perception remains and only the sheep who can't form their own opinions need use the line.

Aside from that any non-bias footy fan will agree that the chooks will be in the bottom 4-5 this year. Just look at our foreward pack and depth compared to every other club. Were still 3 yrs away from being a competetive team.

Our depth is very young and untested but they come with the highest credentials... with POS that you can be sure of. Our first string pack is the least of our worries, I think our back line throws up a few more concerns than anything.
