  • Anyone heard when Ryles will play?

Would be great to see him actually play a game and maybe put to rest a lot of the speculation about whether he will be a positive influence on the team. I think he will contribute, and his experience will help our young guys a lot.

I am baking a cake. A Humble Pie of sorts.

The icing will have Fred's insignia all over it. The icing will be chocolate because Fred does like his choc.

Fred willeat it and enjoy the bitter sweet sensation of my recipe, in honour of Nate myles when nate proves Fred wrong by beinig one of our best this year.

I am reserving a slice for myself.

This very thin slice is for me and for me alone. It represents the very thin and final chance i am willing to give Jason Ryles to prove me wrong.

To date we havent seen this bohemoth show us anything, for one niggling reason or another.

      BUT.....

I will GLADLY quaff that last slice of humble pie if the penalty magnet can prove me wrong.

Go on Jase, prove me and other wrong. Prove to the Easts faithful you are more than just another transit lounger.

The trials have come and gone and you will have a re-birth of fire against a fired up Souths outfit. Unfortuantely it will be yor first hit out but we'll need you to be at your damaging best and that means:

      Smart, disciplined play.
      A cool head
      A do or die attitude.
      A massive workload.

There is only one tampon (1 week in, 3 weeks out) and that joker is your former team mate at the Sharks.

I expect to see you prove me wrong Round 1.

Otherwise Freds going to get even fatter.

      And I will remain hungry.

I agree that Miles will have his best year for us, getting rid of the negative influence of mason and o mealey can only help him. I thought last year that the bar was set too low for our young guys...when they saw mason doing sweet f all....Myles and Ryles will set the bar a lot higher, and Smith wont put up with any lack of effort......we are in for a HUGE year.

Just as a point of clarification Roosdaman, in your post above it reads like you considered O'Meley to be a negative influence on Myles like Mason may have been - is that what you intended? I would tend to think about it the other way - Myles and Mason being negative influences on O'Meley.

As for melon's longish post, love your work, and I too hope that Ryles answers his critics in the manner you've prescribed.

myles needs to have a consistent year on the field for us, a majority of the year, not just put in for a few games and then do nothing after that. he started well with his first game that i saw - the trial against the tigers. but lets see if the shit can keep it up and justify his expensive pay packet.

I don't think there was much wrong with his efforts on the field last year. He was one of the few chasing players when the opposition were making breaks. It was his off field behaviour that was the problem.

If Ryles can somehow stay injury free and consistantly be in the 17 he will be consistantly useless. Just my opinion. Fortunately a tampon has a higher workrate and he will only play a handful of games. But atleast hes a tremendous influence on the younger kids.

The problem was often they ran past him in the first place as he is or at least was very slow around the rucks.

I am gathering you are the type who gets your knowledge of football from what you read in the Tele and hear from Ray on 2GB.. Ryles had one of the best workrates of all the front rowers in the last decade.. Probably only behind Price and Petro.

He only played about 1/2 of the season so no wonder he had a little extra energy.

The bloke has never had to play 20+ games for the Roosters since he's been at the Club - suspensions and Origin appearances have seen to that.

Well hopefully all this weight he has lost will give him the mobility we need around the ruck.

                              Ryles is a gimp.

He won't be worth the pixels requried to spell his name.
