You would think so.But this is not neccessarily the case.Anasta tends to like being the dominant player. If he were to come in and just take over, this could cause problems. If he was to play a Finch type roll playing in the manner that Finch does at Melbourne we will have no problems.
Yeah, you do have a point Andrew, but from what we saw in the trials it looks like Pearce is running the show? Or maybe that was just the case because Anasta WASNT there.
We've clearly had success with Jones in the 6 in the trials.. it's safe to say Anasta is a better 5 8th then Jones, no?
So putting Anasta in 6 can only strengthen the team? Surely?
He was the most committed player in the team last year until his injury and every player has improved out of sight underneath Smith already.. How do we know Anastas game wont improve too?
Im prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt and atleast give him a shot at 5 8th.
I donno, just my 2c.
My 2c worth is untill we actually see it fail lets wait and see. It could turn out to be the master storke that makes the Roosters the first team to go from spoon to premiers
When Anasta was at the dogs he was more a role player than an organiser. Sherwin dictated play and he did his part. We bought him to be the playmaker and in some ways he did as best as he could with a team tha was on the rebuild.
Im not sure he really wanted this role but took it on as he was paid accordingly.
Its ben a long time since we had an organising half back who ran the show and could put on plays ...I don't think even Lam fitted this bill as Freddie was the dominant half.
My big fear with Anast at lock is that we don't have enough workers in the pack..but will be interesting to see how it pans out... we have some good depth in key positions though.

What is it about Finch getting bagged by people? Even Finch himself said he's not that skillful. I actually think Finch has some awesome skills. He's always had a nice short and long passing game and always puts someone through holes. He has a nice long kick and a great short kicking game aswell.
I just don't get the whole "Brett Finch Sux" thing.
I dont know about that lot.. Im thinking mobile back rowers that cut down everything in their path...
Maubs hasn't played much back row and his body will take a while to get used to it.
Ryles is a front rower who will play a limied ammiunt of time and I don't class him as mobile.
Jaubs is a hooker and will be a work rate type player...agree...but you don't wan't hm getting in the wya of the big forwrds all game and expelling his energies.
Myles is a worker, and as a front rower is mobile, but as a back rower not what I look for.
Im thinking more like the Ricko,Fitzy,Crocker trio we had...with the likes of fletcher/toupu off the bench.
If Maubs trial form is anything to go by, he will be a mobile, defensive second rower.
Jaubs was always the type who got dirty and did the hard work, i can only see that expanded by Smith.
Myles is a worker, plain and simple. He will do his 30 tackles and 100 m every game.
Ryles was easily in the top 4 props when he left the NRL, he plays more minutes than others in the position and by all means doesn't shy away from hard work.
Kouparitsas and Conn can also be classified as such players. Workers with not much flash. This is definately a Smith style pack. Probably why he is such a fan of the latter 3 while others fail to see the fuss.

I was talking with him on Sunday and asked which position he prefered and his answer was he is more comfortable in the second row but still enjoyed his time in the centres. I joked with him asking if he was the new Fitzy and he said he would be honoured if he even came half way to filling Fitzy boots and that they were huge boots to fill.

Good to see MAubs holds Fitzy in high regard. I think he will do better than coming half way to filling Fitzy's boots eventually.

Yep, he's put the opposition through holesmany times.
Great long kick - especially the ones that end up out on the full in Bay 13 row ZZ. His short game is good too...he constantly comes up short.
Alcohol never solved any life problems.....then again neither did milk.
Ryles has ball skills, though there are times I wish he wouldn't pass the ball.
Like a lot of ball players, he can be hit and miss. I used to love watching him play for St George and throwing a shocker when the scores got close towards the end of the game. Hopefully age has taught him to be more selective with his timing!
