Will Anasta ruin the mix??

It just semms more logical to shift Anasta to lock,especially with Cherro going down to injury..

Why? Even with the injuries there are probably 5-6 players at Easts ahead of Anasta for a back-row position...

To play Anasta in the forwards will only weaken our pack...IMO..

Geez AW that needs some rephrasing in a big way.

Lets change that to "of course he is no Finch. Finch has been in teams that have won two WCCs. The on field acheivements of teams Finch has found himself in far outweigh those of Anasta"

No way in hell can I think that Finch is a better player than Anasta.

I see your comments as spin doctoring of major proportions.After all its not like most of the teams Anasta has played in here did not have talented players.

Personally I feel both players are about as good as each other Solid 1st graders That in itself is an achievment.

I do though recall when both were thrown together in the halves in SOO 1 2006. SOO is pretty much considered by all of us as the pinnacle of Rugby League. It was Brett Finch who took the game by the scruff of the neck and played a leading hand in a NSW win not Braith Anasta.

Yeh thats fair enough,but those 5-6 players you talk about have less experience than Anasta.
Considering we`re a fairly young team,im not sure if it would be a good move?!?

I too can see what you are saying...

It would have been great for him to get a couple of trials under his belt in the forwards so we could see how he goes there..

He may go well in the forwards, but it is unproven to date..

Interesting couple of weeks ahead for us all...

I too would not be surprised to see him come through Newtown...It is a bit of B Smith thing to do....

With Cherro out I think we can afford to play Anasta in the backrow and accept he won't have a huge defensive workrate as guys like Maubs, Guerra, Symonds, Myles will cover the load.. He is a different player to Cherro but is still a good ball runner and capable off loading in traffic.. His leadership and experience will be very valuable.

Yeh Smith is the type to bring a player back slowly,lets see how it all pans out..

But, Cherrington is an explosive impact type player who doesn't tend to play many minutes...

Is this the role you have in mind for Anasta..ie coming on and off as interchange..???

No.. Anasta at Lock playing maybe 65 minutes.. Starting with Maubs and Myles with Symonds to play 30-40 minutes.. I can't see anyone who is ready to play First Grade that can play the sort of game Cherro can.. Therefore you have to structure your side differently and adapt to who you have available.. Symonds is a good wide running hole runner in the sort of Menzies vein.. Though maybe not as good.. He can give some impact.. Anasta more in the Greg Bird lock type role...

Bird is a tough aggressive forward with ball-playing skills...

Anasta is a much better 5/8 than Bird, but I dare say Bird is a much better forward than Anasta..

Agreed.. Bird is tougher but we need Anasta to muscle up..

He was the most committed player in the team last year until his injury and every player has improved out of sight underneath Smith already.. How do we know Anastas game wont improve too?

Im prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt and atleast give him a shot at 5 8th.

You would think so.But this is not neccessarily the case.Anasta tends to like being the dominant player. If he were to come in and just take over, this could cause problems. If he was to play a Finch type roll playing in the manner that Finch does at Melbourne we will have no problems.
