Great footballers dont make great judges of footballers

Brad Fittlers opinions of Aubs at 5/8, the Johns brother obsession with pearce.

And i friggin hope Fittelr wasnt playing outside of hegs, he would have been in row 6, not a bad spot for a finch bomb or cut out pass.
Sure great footballers don't make great judges but their opinion carries a lot more weight than yours or mine and sure Fittler made an error in judgment but who hasn't?

Pearce isn't an origin player now and he wasn't an origin player last year when he was selected but he's certainly proved he is a first grader at the least. You make it sound like he's Jeremy Smith running around in a Roosters jersey. He made his debut when he was 17 and he's only played 2 years of first grade footy, surely even you know that it takes longer then that for a half back to fully flourish. He has shown signs or progression throughout his short career, has a great attitude and most of all seems to have a good head on his shoulders.

For a club who has had to put up with so many different halves in the past few years I think it's fair enough that the fans can enjoy having a player like Mitchell who has cemented his spot in the 7 I don't know why you can't... maybe there's a story behind it all that you don't wish to share.

No Story, i choose club over players at all times.

I have been around long enough to make my own opinions on players, Pearce is no doubt a good first grade footballer, no more no less, i highly doubt from what i have seen he is any more.

I am sick to death of blinded people who think he is the next fittler ,lewis or johns, who hasn't got the type of game to be a match winner, the hype surrounding the kid because of who he is not what he has done is un-needed nor warranted.

If he stays at Easts, if he gets his creative juices flowing, if he stops kicking at every opportunity, no complaints from me.

We need our 7 to become the goto man, the matchwinner, for me age is no excuse, he is a 1st grade footbaler with origin experiance, he doesnt need to dominate but he needs to try and take control, when the heat is on he invariably goes into hiding, he should want the ball, he should look outsideinstead of that ifamous inside ball to fitzy, i counted 9 occasions last weekend when he performed this.

That is what i hate, the predictability and repetition of his play and it cost us big time last season and will continue to do so if he doesnt loosen up and throw caution to the wind, if its Freddys game plan to play this way, he needs a kick up the arse also

I have to agree with the above and add that if he doesn't lighten his defensive load his attacking play won't improve much. If he wants to tackle to justify himself and avoid the responsibility of being the team's playmaker, Freddy should stick a 9 on Pearce's back and a 7 on JOrbs'.

While I fully agree and understand with this, the issue 'should' be bigger than the individual, ie the 'team' should be controlling how much defense he does, via their defensive structure.
Hopefully we see this change early in the yeat, and it leads to a prosperous year.

Jones, even at this early stage in his career looks the goods to me.If not,J Aubs,to me Pearce appears to be one of those"he'll be somethin' special oneday",up there with Soliola.

Pearce must be left at 7

It doesn't matter who is half at the Roosters, there is some thing in the water that stiffles all creativity from the #7.
there has not been a half that has played creatively at the roosters since the 80s.

They either have all the flair knocked out of them by "structure", or they are just plain ordinary

Roy Masters reckons that this year will be Mitch's final building year & will take the step from potential to star in 2010.

I reckon that Freeman was the closest we've had to an off-the-cuff type of halfback in the past 20 years..

I don't disagree with that, and he didn't last long because of the halfback killing culture
