Matt Johns was an ordinary footballer made look good by his exceptionally talented brother, Joey even made the likes of hughes, gidley and o davis origin and test reps.

4 yrs ago, Anasta was easily our best performer, So much so he made Pearce look good, next season Anasta flopped Pearce flopped, Carney comes in, Pearce has his best season on the back of Carney brilliance, Carney leaves, Anasta flops, Pearce back to his old ways.

This all says to me Pearce only plays well when he has somebody alongside him creating the magic.

I can not be too critical of Pearce this season, whilst he still needs to show more, he cannot do much with a non trier in the 5/8 role. At present we are a rudderless ship, Pearce should be the man to take control and start a mutiny.However i doubt he has the metal to do so.

Exactly, how is any half suppose to play well with a complete dud beside him?
I'd say Pearce's best seasons are more the fact he actually had someone playing football along side of him, rather than an almost invisible halves partner.
Even RD1 this season I thought he was great, and IMO that was because Mortimer was at least giving it a go.

The dumb thing I was referring to was you comparing Anasta to Joey. Braith in his prime still doesn't come close to Johns and the impact that Johns had on his players around him.
