But when you see what they each do with ball in hand it becomes apparent that Carney is twice the 5/8 that Anasta is.

If Anasta stays at 5/8, we don't make the 8

We had 35% possession, now i don't know if you want Anasta to start doing flick passes like Benji Marshall to satisfy that creative feeling but we were never in it and it started with weak defence up the middle.

I'm not even going to mention some of the forwards who had less than 6 runs each.

Carney to 7 (Most creative player on the field should be halfback IMO).
Pearce to 9 (Solves our hooking issues which are not good).
Mini to 1 (Genuine fullback for positional play and kick returns).
Anasta at 6. (Would be the perfect foil for Carney in the halves).

      Flame away...

This may seem strange to move our best performing player in Pearce. I would like to have a Mitchell Pearce run out in every position 1-17 if it was possible...

Pearce has been a stand out at 7. Moving him is insane.. Pearce grows a leg when he has Carney outside him.. Anasta if anyone should make way and move to Lock. I would play Perrett at Fullback, Mini is running on old legs and hasn't broken a tackle since 2006. Jaubs at hooker for now but we seriously need to focus on recruiting a decent dummy half for 2011..

          Question:

If jake Friend returns for this season, will this help solve the Hooking problems?

unfortunately Perrett does not read the game his positional and support play is shit. Basically he can return and run out of dummy half really really well. Mini on old legs offers more

I completely agree. Sammy is one of those players that is good but at the same time, is a bit small and positionally not quite sound enough for wing; from fullback his kick returning is strong but his support play and ball playing abilities arent quite what they should be. He is an asset to the team in one way but a hinderence in another much like braith. Maybe at the end of the day it is worth getting rid of sammy and replacing him with an out and out winger or centre just like maybe soon we need to bite the bullet, ditch braith and get carney into 5/8.

Carney is fine at fullback. He didn't have the best game yesterday, but the whole team was rubbish. Can't believe how many knee jerkers there are around here

                    Totally agree on Perrett.

How did Williamson play on the weekend?

Carney and Pearce as halves is a marriage made in NRL heaven.

We are having problems at hooker? From what I remember of round 1 and 2, they went pretty well

If the main reason for having carney at fullback is to utilise an extra playmaker on the field, then surely the same concept could be applied to braith at lock. Then he could roam around and pop up whenever needed just the same as carney is doing now.

Carney's weaknesses at fullback were absolutely exposed yesterday and this not only put the team under constant pressure but dented his confidence and rubbed him out of the attack. the reason he was brilliant from fullback during the 1st 2 rounds was that he was not tested in defence. Furthermore, after seeing his performance when pressured opposition would be foolish not to barrage him again and again.

I'm not basing this on yesterday

Anasta is the slowest 5/8 in the NRL. He has little or no attacking spark. He has his rush the shortside play, and very little else. The attack is constantly jarred when he's involved in the play.

The whole decision to play Carney at fullback is to do with finding a spot for Anasta. If you want to find one for him, make sure it's not in the backs

His defensive duties on the other hand leaves many questions to be answered... this week is the first time he has come up against a true halfback, is it too early for Smith to bite the bullet?
He is not a fullbacks a..hole.
