  • So we lost...

Isnt it tempting to neck yourself? neck SKD? and retire everyone else....

Of course it is. But when you look at this in the cold heart light of day, look where it puts us, in relation to what this season was supposed to be about.

I remember 6 months ago starting a thread bemoaning the fact that we as a side and indeed as a club are one demensional and unwilling to take risks. We were competitive in 08 and certainly never lost by 50... But were we ever going to win a comp? No never.

Where are we now? we have a brilliant young 7 who is trying his heart out every week and looks phenominal behind a pack that goes forward. An exciting yet unpredictable fullback that will win us games off his own back and a mobile forward back that is young and agile. We are a team that can score points, be brilliant and most certainly win games. Sure the problem lies in defence and depth in a few key positions. But why be so angry about this. It is certainly a lot easier to teach a team how to tackle than to score points.

Take a look at the dogs, there side is aging, largely stagnant and probably lot a real competition threat this year. They have played the role of the roosters of 05...Bought experience with little eye for the long term. I Know that they may prosper today, but we will win a comp long before they do.

I for one am very happy with where we are going, and am certain that when we win the comp in 2011, when i see the trio of carney, pearce, and JWH
lifting the trophy...I will think of this day as a very important blip in the bigger picture.

To put it in perspective, its the worst loss in over 20 years.
I do agree we are going up, but this loss is more than a little blip on the radar. Its a whole flock of elephant birds passing over our cars, cargo doors open

The fact that there is potential for this to still be a good season probably makes this loss worse.
It was nothing short of a pathetic team effort. I do not care for excuses and I will happily praise the team for previous rounds and hopefully future rounds.

There is no suicidal or depressive thoughts here just annoyance.

And as someone else put it, its not the NRL when 50+ points are being scored in a game.

Sundays game is a blessing in disguise.

if at any time during the season the team is getting too over confident..........bring out the tape of the dogs match.

Bring the attitude down to earth and keep the ship on the steady course.

It was a absolute disgrace no other way to put it - to say the hot weather from previous games was a factor is rubbish as the tigers backed up 5 days later and won. the players need to have a good look at themselves as individuals and as a group it was certainly not acceptable and should never again be tolerated.

The hot weather was a factor. Not the reason, but certainly a contributor. You could tell the team was down on energy, down on juice and the scoreline indicated that. I don't think it was a lack of effort. I just think they ran out of petrol. I have played games in extreme heat before. It saps you

Of course the weather was a factor - yes the Tigers won on Friday night, but it was played at night. Yes, it was still muggy but they didn't have the sun beating down on them as the Roosters did yesterday.

And the Tigers were playing a side who had also played in the heat the week before (in worse heat actually). The Roosters had no such luck - the Dogs hadn't had an afternoon game until yesterday.

The heat of the earlier weeks meant we had minus two of our players - Ryles and Graham.

Those earlier weeks in the heat were always going to have an effect at some stage. It's no excuse for a 50 odd point thrashing, but it does need to be taken into account.

Just like getting thrashed by Souths in round 1 last year was a blessing or the back to back thrashings by Melbourne and Cronulla which de-railed our season 2008 or getting demolished by the Cowboys in round 2 of 2007.

The only blessing is that next week is another week. Let's hope this week is a once off.

37% of the ball,50% completions and 60 missed tackles will get you beaten by 46 points everytime.Modern day rugby league is about momentum shifts and unfortunately besides a brief moment just after halftime the scumdogs had all the running against a legless team.
