  • Anyone see the press conference?

Brian Smith and Perrett didn't really look too bothered?

Smith was even smiling and cracking jokes at the end, he didn't look like a coach that just had 60 points dumped on him.

Brian said something along the lines of 'in my experience, if you train soft and fluffy that's usually the way you end up playing on the field that week'

Wtf? If that's the case why would you train 'soft and fluffy'? Sounds to me like they never even went into this match to win, but I don't think they expected to lose 60 - 14.

There won't be anymore 'soft and fluffy' training sessions I hope..

Yeap, after I heard the post-match interview on ABC I was over the loss.......totally brushed it off, he was concerned about the recovery of the players early in the season and gave them a soft week, the coaching staff and players learnt a great lesson.

Chris, like i was saying last night, they went in under prepared.

They did not train as much in the past week to counter the effects of the heat from the tigers game and the souffs game.

While they did not expect a 46 point loss, they had probably earmarked the dogs game as a loss and concertrated on preparing for the broncos match.

The reason why they were not as upset as some on here? 1) it is round 3, 2)we play our first night game 3)after the Broncos game, we have a long recovery week............back on track.

I'm a little stunned, Smith new the boys were never going to be up to it with soft training, but he did it anyway which resulted in a 60 - 14 loss.

Let's see if the lesson is learnt this Friday night... seems bloody bizarre to me. I know it was hot, but its quite clear to me they were never going to compete.

Shit training. Graham & Ryles out. Against a Bulldogs team who would have trained the house down to get a win this week. It was always going to end badly for the Roosters.

No wonder some prick put $20,000 on the Bulldogs on Thursday..

thats the thing chris, if smith trains them hard, he risks longer effects from the heat, we still lose against the dogs and risk losing against the Broncos with the Short turn around for the next game.

Smith softens the training last week, conceeds the loss to the dogs, players able to get back to proper training during the week and are back up against the broncos.

like you said, he probably expected the loss, just not by so much.

                      ..
Roosters were backed for a stack with TAB Sportsbet, to win the game and also to make the top 4. Munsie said this morning that they made a stack on our game.

What was he supposed to do, slash his wrists on TV ? The guy has to go through another 21 games, he has to stay positive and look for solutions.

Yesterday was a nightmare, but we were always going to lose a game, heres a news flash.....we are going to lose more games this season, probably another 9 times in the next 21 weeks and still make the semis.

The score line was horific, we were flat, tired, and played catch up footy which didnt come off, the dogs were commited, enthusiastic, fitter and hungrier. We had 35% of possession, lots of bad bounces and were never in it, but its not the end of the world.

Wailing and gnashing of teeth is the job of the fans - and we have that job admirably covered on this forum

Smiths job is to remain calm and manage the situation.
