  • Can't Pass and Can't Kick.

Well that was my impression of the very disappointing effort put in against the Panthers.

We are not going to win many games giving away 60% of the ball, and playing 70% of the game in our own half.

Contrary to the popular theme around here,I thought our Props put in their best effort so far in this game, against a big pack like Penrith. But the weight of possession and poor field position just told in the end.

They were let down by poor handling and passing from the backs, and an absolutely shocking kicking game and no communication. no plan.

How ****ing hard is it to hold the ball, get to your kick and get down field to put some pressure on?

    I saw it like this.

Carney did ok under extreme pressure. I want him to stay FB.

Mini is not the player he once was, but the opportunities are supposed to be created inside him, He and Perro did ok.

Graham and SKD played ok, again with limited opportunities.

Pearce was poor, Anasta even worse......they have no combination, I think there is a major problem there. If Anasta is to stay 5/8 then he has to run to the line, and PASS the ball....his kicks were disgusting, pathetic in fact.

I hear so many wraps for Pearce.....Im sure he has ability, but today he was poor. Where was he as first receiver? and where was he on 5th tackle?

Our passing from dummy half was poor, and how come we had forwards as first receiver, as I said, we have no leader, and no plan.

Ofcourse they were all flat from having to do so much defence, but that was a problem they created for themselves by the things ive mentioned before.

Myles tried his guts out......and Maubs was fine, but the other backrowers were very average.

    Overall a very poor effort.

    My sugestions are

Anasta has to step down as Captain, Id give that to Myles.

Ryles has to start when he is fit, he was playing injured but still put in.

Pearce has to take more control as first receiver.

Anasta has to run the ball and pass it....no kicking.

How can a team with three kickers on the field (Anasta, Carney and Pearce) end up with Myles and Kouparitsis kicking on last tackle?

    Unbelievable.

Well they probably thought they could do a better job than Anasta, and with good reason, Pearce went missing. but you are right, it was unbelievably poor, and something has to be done about it....NOW.

I thought this was going to be a thread soley on Koup.

I thought he would have been told after the Tigers game not to even think about kicking anymore. He continues to be at best a Newtown bench player. If he is still playing first grade by mid-season then my belief that Smithy is the answer to bring this team back to a competitive top 8 team will go out the window. With him and SKD in the team we will lose many more games than we win.

When I read the heading of this topic, I thought it was about Anasta.

but if it was about anasta, it should have also said "can't play".

With the amount of forward passes and dropped ball yesterday, it felt like I was watching an under 8's side.

            Professional footballers, pfft.

Passing wasn't too bad. We got called on 2 forward passes I think. One was a genuine forward pass. The other, was a very dud call!

Kicking game was dreadful, mainly to do with the fact we had the wrong people kicking. Koups kicked 2, Myles kicked 1. They should NEVER kick, let alone have 3 kicks between them. All 3 kicks were shockers as well. The rest of the kicks were pretty much on the backfoot, or deep within our own half. Very hard to get any sort of effectiveness taking those 2 things into consideration. The others, were excellently difused by the Panthers back 3

Our catching and ball control let us down the most

Roosters were out-enthused on the day. Penrith forwards were meeting us at the advantage line and driving us back. The few times we got some good momentum from dummy-half runs, we lost the ball a tackle later. What has happened to Sammy Perretts running from dummy half? Last season that was about the only good thing throughout - this year he seems very ineffective. Anyone else think that?

He hasn't done it enough. Hasn't been involved at all this season

Perrett is one of the leading dummy half runners this season however he has also made quite a few errors.

In all fairness With so many players out we were always going to struggle. I dont think we were reallly any poorer than the week before. We need some players back this week or we will lose to Canberra.
