I said they dont make the salaries balance.
Player managers are PAID by the player to secure the best deal they can. Their job has zero to do with salary cap.
Its only the management at Melba that should be blamed here.
I find it funny the NewsRL have acted so harshly and swiftly. Its funny cos they OWN Melba. Surely they know whose getting paid what at their OWN club??? The same club they kick 8-10 mill into each year.
I worked with a young guy playing lower grades who was given $1500 cash, on the steps of the MLC centre in the city, to talk to another club. Just talk, and he did sign with the other club.
I would be hunting down the player managers as well.
The NRL have not set up the salary cap auditor to succeed, they couldn't. They would have to give them the resources of the tax department to monitor the clubs.
All clubs are on notice.
Interesting timing though ... me thinks! Are they trying to kill this club off? They have effectively and completely destroyed everything that has been built in Victoria.

I guess a better indicator of what I was talking about (just mentioned on the Footy Show *cringe*) was the midseason signings of players like Clint Newton and Brett Finch. This was a Premiership squad, full of rep players, fair to assume they were operating at close to 100% of the cap. Newton and Finch were obviously not on fat contracts but with English clubs also bidding, those contracts should have raised alarm bells.
Plus, I would hope the players were conscious of who was actually sticking money into their bank account. I appreciate the fact that managers take care of these things and there should be a certain amount of trust but questions must at least be asked of the players' involvement.FONK

From the Herald Sun:
Five past and present club officials face investigation.
They are Waldron, acting CEO Matt Hanson, chief financial officer Paul Gregory, former chief financial officer Cameron Vale, who left after a falling-out with Waldron to join North Melbourne, and former recruiting manager Peter O'Sullivan.

As the coach I think salaries are not anywhere near your prime concern.
You have input to who you want and how much you want them but thats about it.
I think we are trying to play down POS's position here because he is associated with the Roosters nowThe Internet is a place for posting silly things
Try and be serious and you will look stupid

C'mon mate. He would have intimate knowledge of the goings on at the club. The recruitment manager needs to be able to discuss players income with player managers & the Board. He'd need to know who's on what and who's on "what" to do his job.
Unfortunately he is in it up to his eyeballs & looking at it through RW&B eyes doesn't hide that.
You can bet your right nut the league will come knocking on our door. I hope to God we have done a better job at concealment than the Storm did. The Bronco's had better hope the same thing.
There will be frenzied activity at Bondi & Red Hill today.Loved by few, hated by many, respected by all.

I'm not sure I can support a club that cheats
Certainly takes satisfaction away from any achievement
