  • Still not sure about Carney at 1....

Still feel like we are weakening both the 6 and 1 with him being at fullback. Doesnt get his hands on the ball enough and isnt really a chime into the backline kind of fullback. Also our kick returns seem poor.

I think Carney needs to be 6 and Id have Perrett at 1. His running game was great today.

    Agreed on that.

Plenty will disagree, but I think Sammy is a good solid fullback anf should be there instead of Carney. Seems the problem is where to stick Anasta if you move Carney ?

You mean like shuffle the deck-chairs on the Titanic?
It will be interesting to see what Smith comes up with though.

When is Brian Smith going to get it through his thick head that Braith anasta is a lock. His kicking game was awful today and he cant pass the ball any other way than end over end. Seriously can't spiral the ball. He is a runner not a passer. Carney is a 6. Simple as that. We got smashed in the forwards (again). Nate Myles the only one in the forwards doing the business (again) today. Paea, FPN, Newtown is that way! Absolutely embarressing going to the SFS and its a Dragons home game. The whole day other than the Anzac ceremony did my head in. Outnumbered by the Merge. Out played by them too!

Bit harsh, what about JWH and Ryles. ? These two gave the Merge pack some grief.

I don't care who plays 1, just get Carney to 6

For once, I agree with you TOK

Today highlighted exactly why Anasta is not a 6, and Carney is not a 1.

Anasta looked to be trying hard again without success, and I can't help but remember Carney's gutless effort to diffuse Soward's short kick that led to one of their tries.

Thats pretty harsh calling it a gutless effort.

He was running to his right, the ball bounced to his left, the ball is oval, shit like that happens.

i am not saying that carney should or should not be at fullback, but to call it a gutless effort (in attacking that ball) is drawring a very long bow.

LOL not sure if we are up to Titanic stage yet.

I was suprised to see that SMith mentioned Jones as a possible replacement for pearce.

As we all know Jones has been out of favour, and he has been playing centres in the U20's.

I guess we wait until tuesday.

Fair enough, I haven't seen a replay, probably was a bad bounce. It just looked like he was not keen to stick his head over the footy and clean up a fairly standard kick. In general he still looks uncertain to good kicking with a strong chase.

Have just seen the replay and it was definitely a bad bounce, but he was not committed to the footy - he had his eyes squarely on the Saints chaser rather than the football when he made his grab at the ball.

First grade fullbacks must do better.

Yeah, if he is to stay at fullback, he definatly needs more work with difusing kicks.

His one on one defence is still great, there were at least 2 try savers today, one on the line and one where the dragons made a massive break in the first half down the centre of the field. I am very suprised how well he defends in the last line.
