His one on one defence is still great, there were at least 2 try savers today, one on the line and one where the dragons made a massive break in the first half down the centre of the field. I am very suprised how well he defends in the last line.FONK

Yea RWB, they were both in the first half, the first he held up over the try line, put his body in a good position, the second was stopping the line break.

Everyone wants Carney at 6, no one mentions how the defensive load will/may blunt his attack.
In defence, Anasta tackles everything that's near him.
Then in attack Carney comes into the line AND PLAYS 5/8 NOW, for tackles 4,5,6.
He's our main unstructured spark, lets not wear him out tackling, then we'll never have a chance to score.

Lone Rooster, i was thinking the same last night, if Jaubs was fit, to throw him in at half, but that would mean more of kouparitsis at hooker.
Chookies, i think Carney would be fine, his defence at the back is very strong, he is a good one on one tackler and will bring players down more often than not.

Carney needs to get his hands on teh ball almost every play and needs to be in the heat of teh ruck. His deceptive step and speed as well as his gun passing game would cause headaches to any team. From Fullback he doesnt touch the ball nearly as much as our top strike weapon should.Alcohol never solved any life problems.....then again neither did milk.

I think the need for more flair in the halves (including a stronger kicking game), as well as the fact Carney looks uncertain at the back against good attacking kicks, are stronger reasons for a move to the halves than being worried about the risk of him getting tired from tackling.FONK
