  • Some observations from today....

Good win. Tough and gutsy considering we had poor ball control and the ref caned us.

Myles was outstanding and must be in the Aussie team. I neraly shed a tear watching his heroics.

FPN was good but Ryles is starting to show what he can do for us. constantly bent the line

Pez was great and Mini was good at fullback. His commitment to the ball and kick returns showed why he should be there instead of Carney

Poor old Carney had a bad day at halfback. Seemed to be running too laterally. Would play better with Pearce at 7.

Maubs played his usual good game. He is Fitzy reinvented.

We were lucky but toughed it out and got the win. I like it.

    Good summation there Dolphin.
Myles - unbelievable and yes, I nearly shed a tear too at just how courageous he is
Carney - a shocker but johny-on-the-spot when the team needed him to be
MAubs - Solid, solid, solid and every team needs these type of players
Ryles - effective, tireless, earned his keep
Anasta - mixed bag; mistakes aplenty but the aggression in the second half was good

Keep in mind that the Roosters effectively played with 15 men for most of the game today when you consider the following:
Baitieri - played, what, 15 mins?
Brunton - not seen again after being replaced in the first half
Guerra - not seen again after going off with back spasms deep into the first half

So, an "ugly" win, a grinding win but ultimately a satisfying win after last weeks BS.
But once again, they lost the penalty count.
Here's a chance to string 2 in a row next Monday in Townsville.

Have to say I thought Anasta actually played well today. YES - Nate Myles what a champion

Shame Guerra went off because he was looking good out there today.

Myles and Ryles played good all game. Powerful hitups always dragging 3-4 defenders with them. Nuuausala and Anasta had poor first halves (both error-prone) but in the second half Nuuausala showed what he can do, and Anasta wore his heart on his jersey.

Mini, SKD and Perrett did their usual jobs of getting us out of our danger zone all game, and Graham and Jones saved our cans LOTS of times in defense.

Only saw the second half today but geez I love Hargraves. Always ready to stand up. Not many seem to push him back at all. Hits hard. Don't think many like running at him. Think he might get found out occassionally when he misses with the shoulder.

Anyone see when Anasta got in that little scuffle, the tigers passed it to the left and the player that ran onto it got hit by Hargraves, Hargraves stood tall as if to say "try me"... love the way he plays footy.

I'll send you the score from the SFS. Because that's where my team is playing next week

I think Minichiello played his best game at fullback since 2005. Carney must be five eighth and Anasta somewhere else. Graham is definitely a winger.

Difference between this year and last is the committment of the players. They would have folded big time last year. The mistakes and frustrating errors are still there but the pride is back. That alone will get us close to the semis.

And yes, with JWH, I am developing the same feelings I had for Morley!

i thought Kouparitsas played well when he come on. I know he has a lot of knockers but he is very good with the ball and the try he set up for FPN looked good. even the lead up to that try he threw some good balls.

I actually think Pearce is our long term captain.

Seriously though, I take my hat off to Myles. His efforts today were phenomonal.

Pearce is the obvious candidate but gee for pure inspiration it is hard to go past Myles.. At the least, he should get VC.

                              Agree 100%.

I cant recall us last winning a tight game with less than 5mins to go. Very pleasing effort.

I thought Bwaiff really played well fired up. And the Butter Ball, where did that form come from???

                              Enjoyable game to watch.
