what a load of garbage, firstly Anasta is contracted till the end of 2011 he is on good coin here and certainly won't be leaving because he won't get nearly as much money anywhere else, secondly we just don't have the salary cap room to take any high profile signing let alone Cameron Smith and finally Brian Smith doesn't believe in having star players earning rediculous sums of money he prefers an even spread of talent without the superstars ego's or paychecks.

Like some others, i cant see legs behind this. I cant see smith ever leaving melbourne for another nrl club and it isnt a smith type signing and considering we just put so much time and effort into getting friend back, it would be exceptionally counter-productive. Tolman would be good but i think snowden would come a bit cheaper and offers just as much - really underrated and smith type signing

I would definitely rather spend the money on a Dugan, quality centre, winger, and maybe a linebreaking backrower, if we are planning ahead.
Right now, the pretty much confirmed spots until the end of next year should be:
1. Carney
2. Perrett
3. Kenny-Dowall
4. Graham
5.
6. Anasta
7. Pearce
8. Ryles
9.
10.
11. Symonds
12. Aubusson
13. Myles
14.
15.
16. Waerea-Hargreaves
17. Nuuausala
Safely assuming that Minichiello probably won't go around with us again in 2011, and remembering that Graham, Anasta and Ryles PROBABLY won't stay on beyond 2011, there are a fair few spots up for grabs IMO.
I am really hoping that Koops is not considered for the hooker rotation anymore.
Brunton, Friend and Jorbs should be competing for the starting hooker spot (9). Jones, Fepuleai and Samuela should be fighting for the impact hooker spot (14).
Cherrington, Kouparitsas, Guerra, Takairangi and Leilua will be pushing for that open explosive backrower spot (15). Conn, Kennedy, Paea, Masoe and Arona will be pushing for the front row spots, and you can also bring Boyd Cordner into the mix, with the possibility of shifting Myles up front.
With Dugan coming along, Carney can shift to five-eighth, and give us a very dangerous and skillful attacking core that could produce lots of points. Not convinced on Dugans defense though. He is safe as a house under the high ball, but he is a shirt-grabber.

The other vacant spot on the bench i think is well sewn up between all those players and thats not even including the likes of baiteri and lowe who are also pretty talented players so i wouldnt both signing anyone there.
Up front i would either sign snowden or tolman along with tamou for depth/battle it out with FPN and Kennedy for a bench spot and fight for a starting birth next year once ryles leaves.
For that wing/centre spot i think there are plenty of options. I would like either michael gordon, blake ferguson, aku uate, krisnan inu or matt duffie
