At least Carney can create something out of nothing compared to Anasta,we are still waiting for him to stand up when it matters.
Yeah he had an average game against the Cowgirls as opposed to 3 years of crap /average games from Anasta and SKD.
Carney is not a fullback although this experiment worked for a few games he is a natural halves him and Pearce are the future not Anasta.
As for Mini let's see what he offers this weekend if he is still in the squad,if he serves up the crap we saw lately then drop him and try new blood such as Towers or shift Perret back there at FB.

Lol I'm pretty sure Carney has played halfback for Canberra before he should know how to take control of a game. And running straight across field does not come into the equation.

Geez, without him we would be last.

How many forwards develop a pass later in their carrers??? Cos they are able to deal with the pace of the game easily by that stage their skills can be exposed.

IMO players have to learn and improve constantly thru their carrers. Sure you learn the basics as a kid but you sharpen those skills each level you climb. The jump to 1st grade is of course the most difficult as it should be and IMO more work needs to go in there that anywhere.

Probably the major coaching difference in 1st grade is the pace of the game. Doing what comes naturally, skillwise, is something that takes alot of players a long time when they hit the top grade.

Thats where the coaching comes in. Take Melba or the Stains for example. They have the coaches who have the ability to bring out the best in players, almost immediatly. They do this by having a strong structure and defined jobs for players. Can we say weve seen anything like that here for 5+yrs???

Theres also the fact that many of these youngsters were identified and given 1st grade jumpers by gimps. Maybe they all cant play. IMO we wont find out till theyve had a good year or two under a coach known for getting the best from some very average players.

We have too many youngsters IMO, not enough expierence. And the expierence we have in most cases cant keep up with the kids at the moment. Again it will take time till they either recapture old form or finish their contracts.

          Good post mate.

I remember Gould saying he coached Freddy into being a ball player when he was at the Roosters. That would have been from the age of 24 onwards.

I don't know how they went from the youngest squad to an ageing squad in a year. Mason, Ogre and Fitz let go. Ryles JWH, Graham signed.

Maybe Carney has won us something in the last 8 weeks. Anasta has won us squt in years. Give me a break on goal kicking. What you want to give it to Anasta, who can't land a kick in half a field.

No he means he finds it impossible to believe that he is wrong again. Though it puzzles me as to why. He's regularly been proven to have only a passing knowledge about our club and the game in general. Think he relies too much on the tabloids for his info.

You've gone from claiming we have an ageing squad to comparing us to a team that everyone knows is traditionally stacked with youngsters.

So what is it, are we ageing or is there only one or two clubs that have a younger squad?

I've just had a look at their web site and I don't think there would be much in it.

The Mack, can you get some stats for us?

no we don;t have an average age younger than the raiders.

They have an average age of 21.

The Roosters have an average age of 22 for the 2010......With your comment of our team being an "Aging side", we may as well rename the Roosters:

                        The Benjamin Buttons

Maybe, Like the charachter, we will get younger with age.

I'm replying to Fred's suggestion that we have the youngest squad in the comp

perhaps I should have based it on "starting 17 so far this season" as opposed to "full squad of 25"

                              we're ageing, and we're slow

We are all ageing young TOK. I think you will find that even the raiders are ageing. Its just something that happens in life I'm afraid.
