And another thing,

When Smith arrived at Newcastle he knew that he had to get results fast.
He made the unpopular choices that everyone a) hated him for but b) respected him for.

Now he has a cushy 4 year tenure and he can take his time.
He wont get his best results until the final year of his contract, the carrot will be dangled and we will sign him to another long term contract.

This is the main problem with this joint.
