Williamson and Jones not named in any grade

It seems strange for Ben Jones not to be named in any side unless he is injured. Williamson has already been released I believe so he is already gone. I'm hoping Tom Symonds plays this Monday night but I wouldn't be counting on it.
On a side note, I'm hearing there is a possible chance BJ Leilua will make his NRL debut this weekend, although is more likely to be 18th man.Last edited by footy; 05-27-2010, 09:31 PM.

Former Rooster likely for Souths
Charlie Payne | 29th May 2010
Former Rooster Ryan Williamson is back in Mackay and looking forward to teaming up again with Souths for their clash with Brothers tonight.
Peter HoltPREMIERS Souths are expected to be boosted by the inclusion of former Sydney Roosters under-20 winger Ryan Williamson for the top-of-the-table clash with Brothers at Leprechaun Park tonight.
Williamson, 20, returned to Mackay this week from Sydney, where he had been with the Roosters for the past two years, and said there was a chance he could turn out for his old club tonight.
A former Australian Schoolboys and Queensland representative, Williamson was a member of the Roosters' first grade training squad, although he has yet to play NRL.
“They didn't want to get rid of me,” he said.
“I just wanted to see what it's like to work and do all those sort of things.
“I'm taking a break from the big football.
“I may go back down and do it again, but I'm going to play with Souths for a while.
“I'm just taking a few steps back to go forward,” he said.
Souths coach Nathan Doyle said the club was looking forward to seeing Williamson back in blue and gold.
“He's looking forward to coming home, to playing for the love of it,” Doyle said.
“We hope he turns out for us as soon as possible.”
Tonight's match between the only unbeaten teams after five rounds of the Skills Training Cup is also the opening round of the Pride of Milton Street Trophy.
After scoring more than 100 points against Norths last weekend, Doyle said he expected Brothers to be a lot tougher.
“Brothers are the form team really, and up until last week we've been struggling a bit,” Doyle said.
Brothers coach Mick Nielsen said he would be looking for discipline and ball control from his team to overcome the strength of Souths in the forwards.
“If we can control the ruck and try not to let them get a roll on we'll do well.”
In the other match tonight Wests play Magpies. Tomorrow Sarina is home to Moranbah and Norths host Whitsunday.

I always said he was a myth yet people insisted on talking him up like he was a mixture of Inglis, Renouf & Meninga.
Instead he is Eion Crossan.Loved by few, hated by many, respected by all.

See Ryan Williamson is a pefect example as to why we need a proper 3 grades for players to move through.
There is too much emphasis on kids that are under 21 to move straight from a junior competition to the top grade.
Williamson has probably had every tom dick and harry say he has the skills to play in the top flight, and yes he probably does, but it seems he was missing the mental strength/attitude to step up right at this point, feeling pressured from all the hype.
There is undue pressure on the kids at such a young age. Make them work through the ranks, let them learn both the physical and mental skills to succeed.
it's too much too young

If they can't afford three grades then they need to change the NYC rules to be U23 with 4 open age exempted players per 17. This way, you give late bloomers a chance to mature while the 4 open age players allow first graders coming back from injury or form a place to play and also get the young blokes used to playing against older hard heads.
Current NYC is hurting first grade and also stifling younger talent. It is a joke.

If they can't have all 3 grades across all 16 teams, then the current NYC should revert to being run intra-state like the NSW and QLD Cups leaving either a true reserve grade or the hybrid that ticket has described as the lead-in match to FG."The price of freedom is eternal vigilance."
