  • JWH injured again

looks like JWH has done his shoulder again, certainly would explain his lacklustre effort on saturday night, the question is was he injured heading into the game or did it early on against the sharkies, might be time to put him in cotton wool for a while till its 100%, there is nothing to gain in him causing further damage at this stage.

    Yeah well he's young 'ay?
If he was an old guy and this season was his final chance at glory then I'd say glue/bandage him and put him on... but he isn't, and has lots of time to develop.

That said... is he as good as the hype? I remember the Tah's calling him the "Sonny Bill of Union"... which is sorta funny given the irony of the events that unfolded.

I really hope for a quick recovery for this guy. He has been a stand-out this season also considering how young he is he has been a dominant player in our pack. Really gives it that X-Factor.

Id give him time to recover - really he is still only a boy filling in a position that came about through injuries, still reckon he's better off the bench as an impact player.

Only difference to his play this year compared to last year is the quality of the forward pack he was in. Manly iron-man of the match against the storm in the playoffs last year - Watmough who?

JWH and Nuuausala are both typical bench players, that is why they are used to best effect off the bench by New Zealand.

They both have had occasional blinders as starters, but a starting forward should be consistent. I see a bench of Nuuausala, Hargreaves, and Cherrington (when he returns from injury) as very very strong, with a high impact value. A starting pack including workers like Ryles and Myles, and solid linebreakers like Morbs and Symonds, as top value.

All we need, is one more prop. Kennedy, Masoe, Conn, Arona (who has yet to debut but is quite talented) and Paea should all fight it out for that one spot IMO.

Luke Douglas is exactly the prop that we are after, I am not sure when his contract is up, but he is reliable, eats up the metres and solid in defence (and still young).

              Yep.

Douglas, Snowden, Tolman, Hunt, Rapira, Packer, Grant and Mannah are the young, bustling and strong props if you want a hard worker in both hitups and defense.

All of them (maybe not Grant and Mannah yet) are capable of big minutes, 30+ tackles, 120+ metres, and strong carries over the advantage line.

They are all in the younger, under-25 bracket too. Shillington, Hannant, Scott, Poore, King, Gibbs, White, Galloway, Weyman, Kite, Perry, Lima, Tilse, Henderson, Tronc and so on are all in that 25-30 bracket where they should really be kicking into their prime form by now. Notice that the QLD options of Shillington, Hannant and Scott are all in career best form as Petero and Price wind down, while NSW options Poore, White, Kite and Perry are all relatively down on form, Weyman isn't dominating like he did last year, whilst King, Gibbs, Tilse and Henderson will never really be Origin players.

I think NSW should shift its focus to the Country quartet of Douglas, Snowden, Tolman and Hunt, as well as the City trio of Mannah, Grant, and the injury-prone but hard running Keith Galloway. The rest should be left as a distant memory, and the selectors should field the best four of these seven props as their pack. Weyman deserves a few more chances though.

I don't think he was ever 100% after the Cowboys game?

He has a massive amount of strapping on both shoulders which isn't a surprise considering the way he defends maybe we'll just have to put up with him being injury prone early in his career until his body fills out ala SBW.

Telecrap report that he's out with a knee injury but should be right for round 16.

Smith was saying it was his shoulder/AC joint not his knee.
