Why a 4 year contract is bad business

Smithers is like Gibson....he will leave this club in a better state than he inherited. When Smith decides to call it a day Easts will be a constant premiership threat.

I don't think it is possible to leave it in a worse shape but seriously Smith has inherited a complete basket case of a club that has been mismanaged at every level. He needs time to clean out the garbage and bring in his own players.. This was always going to be a 4 year project at a minimum.. If he got a 2 year deal the incentive would be there to cut corners to try and achieve instant success, this has been our downfall in the past. In order to build the club a 4 year deal was fair enough.

To me its all about timing.
The best administrators need to make the right decisions at any given time for what is needed.

Our side is beyond poor - we sit we were do on the ladder due to some of the ugliest wins you'll ever see. Watch us when we try and move the ball from one side of the field to the other with 3 or 4 passes. Our passing is noticeably poorer than the good sides

Whilst I agree Nick needs to stay out of player recruitment and retention, he has given more to this club than you are worth and will continue to do so regardless of morons like you calling for his expulsion.

Many of u won't believe it, but one of his core principals is that players must really want to play for the roosters and that if they don't care about the club then they can piss off. That applies to all players no matter how big or important they are in the scheme of things.

Fred, may I ask how Mr Politis gauges the degree to which a player has that desire you speak of to play for the Roosters and how he determines how much they really care about the club? Not trying to stir trouble here, I'm just curious how he goes about ascertaining those two characteristics which I'm glad to hear that he insists upon with regard to the players that don the Rooster jersey.

Where would the club be without Politis?

I know going back at least 3 years,Politis has been looking for a CEO that can do the job right.So he can drop his hand.
You either get a coach that is powerful or you get aCEO that can do the job.
Who is good enogh now? Brian Smith is definately know Bennet.
I fancy Osbourbe at Parra or Todd Greenburg they are good admins by the looks of things.
Look back at 02 and so they needed about 10 nitwits to get over the line and they struggled with that too.
You know the old saying too many chiefs and not enough Indians etc etc etc.
When they finally clean the board out and make it more functional than just dollars its possible that we can get a roll on.
Most clubs are worried about the dollars coming in and any CEO will tell you running a footy club is a constant loss.This is News fault so they must go.
At the moment the clubs are working with peanuts in house budgets.

hey trewhellawanka, one thing I have learnt is never pay attention to someone who supports a club and works for another and a basket case of a club at that and then spruiking the credentials of a dud coach from another club.. The Dragon's Toyota Cup side are running 13th lol with the best junior nursery in the league. I guess a massive accomplishment given his performance at the Roosters taking them to a spoon. I reckon we should cut the block some slack , leading into tonights match we are in 9th place , he's got some good staff around him rohan and trent , these guys arent mugs , new systems take time to implement and the players need time to get there heads around the new system , this is a work in progress the fact hes never won the comp in 21 years means that hes due 1 could be a good thing
