It doesn't take some sort of mystic ability to realize that 4 years was too long.

Believe it or not,

Ive seen many a coach.

The hard arses, the "best mate", the tactitian, the motivator.

All of them have their strengths and their weaknesses.

To me its all about timing.
The best administrators need to make the right decisions at any given time for what is needed.

We sign a man who has never won a comp in 21 years of trying.
We sign him on the basis of a Phil Gould recommendation who sees him as some replacement for the pariah, Fittler.


I just know in my bones it is the wrong decision.
Not for choice, just for the duration.

I will guarantee that the best year Smith has with our beloved club is 2014.
Just in time to renew his contract.
We might finish second, third or fourth.

Then the merry go round goes round again.


If this happens, I will have lost all respect for Nick Politis.

It seems that Big Brian aka mr Carney never rated this player at all.

It seems Brian was misguided.

Having success in 3 or 4 years would have nothing to do with building a team in that time.

I've said it all along, we have too many Islander origin players in the team, they are great with athleticism and strength but they don't have the stamina and inparticular aptitude, their readiness or quickness to learn and ability to make make decisions at key times during a game is poor. Have a look at the Storm and Broncos they have focused on building their teams around Anglo, European and indigenous players. Even Souths have reduced their number of Islander origin players and whose their coach, ex storm assistant Maguire. I think we have 7 to 8 taking the field each week, our higher mistakes and penalties this year I believe are related to this issue.
