Bird maybe, because NSW might want a tough nut. He is a classic Origin sort of player, even if I don't think he's all that flash as a 5/8th. He's a competitor, exactly the sort of player QLD normally chose. But Soward? He's too soft for Origin while he continues to defend on the wing rather than closer to the ruck.

I really like the looks of that team esp the reshuffling of 1/6/13. My only criticisms are:
Myles is a better 2nd rower.
SKD should continue his backpacking out of Sydney.
Kouparitsas should be making souvlakis at Victoria Yeeros

With the likes of Conn, Paea, Kennedy, and Symonds not even in the squad we are looking like we have some depth as well. Fingers crossed we find some consistent form.

WOOOHOOOOO love it...... Carney and Pearce to become the best halves convo in the comp for the next 5 years at least pending on injury/off field drama

          Gus+Origin talk

          NSW need a 5/8

one week after talk of Gus back in Origin Carney gets moved to 5/8 ahead of game 3.

My predictions, If Carney plays good at 5/8 he will be in origin 3 this year. And the regular 5/8 in years to come. Gus grooming his team.

          Am i crazy.
Brian Smith is his own man.

He wouldn't make decisions on his team to suit somebody else.

At last B.Smith has seen the light.
It's obvious after 12 rounds that Carney was never a fullback,Good to see he has admitted he stuffed up,should have been done along time ago.
Carney offers far more in attack than Braith there, now for Mini to be dumped from Fullback,as he is past his best there and offers very little as well.

              Hopefully next year:

              Anasta, Minichiello, Kouparitsas out

              Symonds, Dugan, Jones in

Would still have Kennedy, Conn, Guerra, etc in reserves.

How will Anasta be used in attack?. Will he be on an edge?

Also Myles, FPN and Maubs can all play 80 and are capable of making 30 tackles and 120 metres. Is Anasta capable of that?

I understand the decision I just think it makes us weaker.
Anasta is a fantastic defender. That's probably the strongest part of his game, so I wouldn't worry too much about that. I am concerned about Carney's front line defense though!

Also, we actually have a very hard working pack, as you mentioned. So it doesn't really matter if Anasta spits out those same figures. He is a good attacking option FOR A LOCK, which will make our pack that little bit more dynamic. He will do fine. And will be able to lead from lock more so than 5/8

Myles plays pretty much like a prop anyway. He played prop for most of last season, and was excellent. His game won't change much at all!

Koups shouldn't be in the side. Friend should be playing 80. If he can't, then our next best option at hooker, J Aubusson should be on the bench

Our depth does look very good! Add Guerra and Brunton to your list, who have been impressive when given the chance this season

It will be interesting to see who defends inside Carney and where Braith defends in the line period....I am a little concerned who will be doing the work right up the middle when Ryles and Myles take a spell. Maubs will cover his side of the field, FPN and Anasta the other!? Eek.

Myles usuallly plays close to 80mins every week.

What has been the problem with FPN and Anasta's defense that has you 'eeking'?

FPN has been our top tackler of the past few weeks and has hardly missed a tackle.. Braith is solid in defence as well.. I don't have too many problems with those 2 either.

Absolutely. The only thing to be concerned about defensively, is the fact we are weakening the defensive abilities of our 5/8 by replacing Carney with Anasta
