Looks like we could have Anthony Watts in our clours next year as reported in RLW. I think this would be an excelent sighning and would compliment Jake Freind.
I regards to recruiting I don't think we need to go after to many players apart from Dugan and James Graham. With those two players plus some exciting talent coming through the future looks very promising.

I was expecting Friend/Jones to forge a starting hooker/impact hooker combination. But now I am guessing that Friend/Watts will make the combination instead. Watts can cover the halves too.

I don't see why Jones won't be given at least a decent shot at that bench hooker role. He is basically the same sort of player as Watts, albeit with less aggression and mongrel.

If you think because he played 20 minutes as a fill-in hooker in a pre-season exhibition match, he is good enough to be an NRL hooker, I am going to lose it. You know much more about footy than that TheMack.

If Smith had any inclination of using Jones as a hooker don't you think he may have tested him out at Newtown or under 20's...

Watts was never a hooker here with us too. He was a halfback. That is the way some of these players work out - they probably don't have the creativity for the halves consistently, but their good acceleration off the mark and ball skills could make them a useful bench hooker, strictly for impact. I am aware that Smith doesn't seem to want to use him there, but I still think it was worth a try.

Craig Wing, Aaron Payne, Issac Luke all played in the halves as a youngster.

because he's better than any we have, including Friend as it stands (with the jury still out on him), and he would have been relatively cheap

I don't want Watts at the Roosters because he is a dirty player and was let go from the Roosters before for reasons of poor attitude I believe. Has he changed? I somehow doubt it but don't think the Roosters need to take a chance on him given the players already on the payroll (Friend, JAubs, Samuela, Brunton, Foran).
