  • We need a new assistant coach

all the best Trent and congrats on your position with Catalan.

Catalans Dragons have named Australian Trent Robinson as their new head coach on a three year contract.

The 33-year-old, who replaces the outgoing Kevin Walters, joins the Perpignan club from Sydney Roosters where he was working as assistant coach to former Hull and Bradford boss Brian Smith.

The former Roosters, Parramatta and West Tigers player also had a stint with Toulouse before succeeding Justin Morgan as coach in 2005.

"I am proud to sign with the Catalans Dragons and come back to France after my time in Toulouse," said Robinson, who can speak fluent French.

"I know the French culture and way of life and I want the team to develop its own game. I know I am ready to manage a Super League team and I am looking forward to the challenge."

Catalans CEO Christophe Jouffret said of Robinson: "He is a young coach but with strong experience at the highest level in the NRL.

"His profile suits our club which must improve after five years in Super League. He is young, ambitious, a hard worker and with new ideas to develop French rugby league. "

Johnny Howard is also looking for a job since being knocked back by the international cricket council. Not sure how he would go working with Rudd though...

                        Dave Furner
At least knows a good % of the players in your side and how they play. Plus we need to get rid of him lol

What about Dean Pay? Played under Smith and a former coach at the Chooks. Might be concerned about his long term future at the Storm given the salary cap scandal?

Having Brothers as Coach and CEO at a NRL club could never be a success. Too many tendancies to avoid conflict when the big problems happen.

Dave would be a better Coach, than Don would be a CEO. Don seems a bit soft in the interviews I've seen him in.
