  • Trip back to memory lane.

I've dug deep into my memory...

It tells me that this week's game will be the first time since 1987 we are playing Souffs where both sides are in finals contention.

It seems like an eternity that I was at Henson Park watching Ian Roberts leap over Gary Wurth to score from a bomb. I think the score ended 32-18 to Souffs. Joe Lydon carved that day.

It was a massive crowd at Henson. There is no way they would cram that many in there today.

Great memories. Hopefully histroy doesn't repeat however.

You actually have to to go back to the 1930s to find the last time Easts played Souths in a finals match. Quite incredible, really.

I suppose the conclusion you draw from that is that both sides are seldom good at the same time; when one is good, the other is crap.

It's amazing that we haven't played in a finals match since then.

            Could it be this year?

Drilling down on those stats I can't believe Spina came out of long retirement to play for Cows.

I can't believe they have a junior competition up there named after him.

I couldn't wait for him to head home in the 80s. Like many, 1987 was his only good year!
